WMD = Weapon of Mass Destruction

Or you could rename it: FMD = Food of Mass Destruction

One of my sweet friends blogged about some out of control eating recently. My heart went out to her. I've been there & done that & I've got the (X-large) t-shirt to prove it.

I told her that I'm convinced there is something in those unhealthy foods that is addictive. When we haven't had them for a while & then eat them, we go out of control. So, being the Google Queen that I am, I found this article at Prevention.com:


It lists the top 10 most addictive foods & tells you what's in them or how your body reacts when you see them. It was a very eye-opening article.

For me, once I start eating those foods, I cannot stop either. I don't feel full or satisfied. Even after just eating them, I am still hungry. That's a scary, scary thing. You don't hear much about people binge-eating on whole wheat bread, freggies or water, right?

I've had discussions with my doctor about eating processed foods. She said that they cause inflammation within your body because you don't digest them well. She said that inflammation in the body over long periods of time can cause all kinds of health problems, to include arthritis & cancer. Eeeeek!!

So today, be aware of what you're eating. Stay away from that Food of Mass Destruction.

    Wonderful blog. Thanks for putting it in writing for us. I often forget that the stuff I crave is made so that I will crave it. I had to totally stop soda, 1 puts me over the edge. It's okay though, I am healthier now because of it.

    Great Blog ! This IS me, the processed binge queen. I've eaten healthy for many years. Then binge on processed food . I call myself a carb addict, actually a processed carb addict.
    If not for this I'd be about 10-15lbs. lighter. I keep reversing my progress with binges.

    I stopped with soda , even diet because I learned that makes me crave the bad stuff. The visuals you added are great !

    I love the visual you gave us. I'm printing them out to stick on my frig. Although I've worked hard to go organic and non-gmo, there are still little pitfalls one can fall into, such as hidden sugar and artificial sweeteners added to foods where they simply don't belong. The food industry does everything it can to sabotage us. Thanks for the link, I passed it on to some friends who also share these concerns.

    This morning I'm cooking. I'm cooking massively for the week so that my food will NOT be a WMD!!! It's going to be a good week of eating at my house ... and there will be some dishes in the freezer for future busy nights!! emoticon

    My trigger is Wheat Thins. I see Bob eating them all the time. So once in a great while I do give into them. Then I am aware and won't have them for a long time. Knowing boundaries is so important. emoticon
