Tide Pools and Bathing Suits

Wednesday, May 15, 2013

It's getting harder and harder to find triumphs to blog about.

My last tide pool (plateau) was pretty devastating and has really destroyed the curve on my weight loss graph. I dipped down to 146 but it only lasted a day and then I jumped quickly back up to 148 and stayed there for three weeks, no matter what I did.

I reduced my calorie intake. I increased my workout intensity. Nothing worked.

Finally, in desperation, I said that I would let myself have a "feast day" for Mother's Day. Instead of 1400 calories, I would eat 2000 calories. I don't know if that's what did it (it could also be hormones -- though more likely a combination of both factors), but I am now back down near 146 again.

On a different note, I finally bought a bathing suit!

I was trying size 10 because I read somewhere you need to go a size up in bathing suits (like winter boots, ironically). After I had narrowed my choice down to one or two styles, I realized that a size 8 would probably fit. I was right.

I am glad I have a swimsuit to wear now if I get invited to a pool party. You know, because that is a thing that happens to me all the time, haha.

No, but we have relatives with a lovely pool that we occasionally get to swim in, and it will be nice to have a new size 8 suit instead of the ugly size 14 suit that I bought at the end of last summer in case of a winter swimming emergency.

Thankfully, nothing like that happened, and the emergency bathing suit can now be consigned to the donation pile.
