Mother's Day 2013
Sunday, May 12, 2013
Oh my gosh it's been cold today.
I never thought I'd be digging out my winter jacket on May 12, but this is Canada, so we are resigned to our strange and unpredictable weather.
We've been sleeted upon for most of the day.
I do not know at what point the cold stuff stops being snow and starts being sleet -- or at what point it stops being sleet and starts being hail -- but to my eyes the tiny pellets that keep falling from the sky and melting where they land are too heavy to be snow, and too small to be hail, so I am calling them sleet.
On a different note, I hope everyone had a happy Mother's Day. I am so lucky that my son takes after his father and is naturally very generous. He gave me a lovely gift card for a store that sells clothing by Canadian designers (the kind of store where $80 to $100 buys you one T-shirt). So I got myself a T-shirt with my gift card. To be fair, it is tunic length, and can double as a mini-dress if I wear it with leggings. I am not sure whether I'd be brave enough to wear it as a dress without leggings, but I'm sure DH will try to talk me into it.
But in this weather, I'll be wearing a long-sleeved top and jeans against the cold, and throwing on my winter jacket when I go outdoors. Most dogwalkers I saw out this evening were wearing hats and gloves as well.
It's not predicted to warm up again until mid-week. It can't come fast enough for me!
