Mappy Birthday to me!
Two days before my b'day I was asked to make a blood donation. I'm O-; CV-...so they love me for marrow transplants and infants. I've been giving blood since my college days. How many years ago again?
Anyway. I gave in a Blood-mobile back in September last year. No problem. They called a few weeks ago asking if I'd be willing to do it again at the local center and...of course...I said "yes"!
Sat down as usual, on April 5th (two days before my b'day). The kid (Arthur) couldn't find a vein (first time ever this has happened to me) so he got someone else to give it a go. She (Theresa) starts poking me with something sharp. After 10 min. says she's confidant she found something.
Long story short...she hit an artery, not the vein. I bled like a stuck pig under the skin. My arm now looks as if it had a purple leg-warmer on it.
I had four people working on me that day. I ended up in the ER next night (drove myself inlady of significant age" that ) checking for clots and my BP was 187/88 at that tine. Checked back w/my GP on Tuesday after and BP was still 170/90. Now on Atenolol, thank you very much.
"Ex" not very supportive. I'm tired. Had great week in San Antonio w/friend two weeks ago and would love to live on River Walk. Loads of great people...and warm. Yes, the people were warm, too.
Maybe it's because I'm "of a significant age" that I'm feeling down tonight, but this arm hurts and being alone doesn't help.
