Springy Spring Sprung

Monday, April 08, 2013

I am happy to report that I left my house to come to work this morning without a coat, scarf, mittens, or boots on. It is FINALLY SPRING here!!!!!!!!!

That being said, my boyfriend shared his lovely cold with me. I think I’m going to be attached to the tissue box all day today.

I had an alright weekend. I made a quinoa bake for dinner Friday night that ended up turning out pretty good! It just happened to be a recipe to feed like twenty people though, next time I’d cut it in half! I hate throwing away food so… in order for me not to feel pressured into eating the whole bake, I must cut it for my sanity!

Saturday my boyfriend was pretty sick, so we had to cancel our winery tour. No use having a tasting if he can’t taste, right? I decided to go out and about. I only spent $15 at Target (miracle, I know!) and didn’t really have success anywhere else. Trying not to be bummed out that size 14 jeans wouldn’t fit me, trying to convince myself it is a brand thing because I can still fit in some of my 10’s at home. I refused to buy a pair of size 16 pants. I just don’t have it in me to go there again in my life.

Yesterday BF and I went walking around an old area of town that has cute independent and antique shops. We split a bowl of wild boar stew – it was actually pretty tasty! I genuinely have no idea if boar is good or bad for you, but it kind of is like a pig right? So probably not that great? But we split it! BF still isn’t 100%, he fell asleep before Game of Thrones could even start last night. I DVR’d it for him, poor guy. He woke up at the end and thought it was just starting! At this point, I realized my throat was hurting. I ate a throat drop and went to bed.

I woke up at like 1:30 am last night with my throat on fire and I could barely swallow. I took ibuprofen but couldn’t fall back asleep until about 4:45 am… not good when you have to get up not too far after that! I’m not DYING but I’m not having fun today either. I packed my gym bag and I’m just like… ugh. I might try for a walk outside since it is gorgeous? I could probably blow my nose more out there without getting stared at doing the same on a treadmill. My head is kind of jumbled up. I almost forgot my phone, definitely forgot my badge for the first time – and naturally today was the first time security checked me. I must have had a guilty face.

I have training and work dinners for the next two days, so I kind of need to sort this cold out like – today. I made it ALLLLLLLL winter, seriously why now?! Haha.

That being said, my workouts are going to have to bend around my crazy schedule this week. Early in the morning is about the only time I have free, and I don’t know if that will happen when my body clearly is going to need sleep? Wah. Never simple is it?! But it isn’t the end!

With that being said, I may be a bit absent from Spark this week, but I’m not going to drop the torch. Like Arnold says: “I’ll be back!”

Things I am happy about:

1) The flowers are blooming outside of work and they are GORGEOUS!
2) The weather is FINALLY warming up! That means more hikes, walks, and jogs!
3) I’m wearing a cute new dress I got at kohls for $10 and I’ve already got some compliments!
4) My office has unlimited free tea. I am going to need it today.
5) Having my super supportive boyfriend around. We are now even united in sickness.
6) I have wasabi edamame as a snack, and that is excellent for sinus trouble.

See ya’ll later!

Sizes are pretty inconsistent. I can wear a large from most stores, but sometimes still need an XL. I also have a few things that are a medium! Sorry you caught a cold. I had a horrible one a few weeks ago and I thought I'd never get better I haven't heard of boar stew, but I love stew in general, so I bet I'd like it.

I'm not sure I can handle the wasabi edamame! The first couple I had were good, but the next one had way too intense of a taste for me! I've been peeling the "shell" to avoid the taste. But at least it is making me snack slower ;)

Same thing happened to me! BF got a cold and passed it to me :( luckily I took my Zicam (I SWEAR by it) and it wasn't so bad. But I'm sorry you're feeling under the weather. no fun. Wasabi edamame and fresh air will do a world of good! keep it up my friend!

Wild boar is pork. Generally a stew would be with a roast section. Pork isn't really bad for you, unless you're eating a heavily nitrated ham, so it was probably about on par with if it'd been beef stew. I LOVE boar (not sure why, maybe because pig is just so darned tasty!).

The changing of the seasons always gets me. I've been coughing up gross for the last 2 weeks (not sick, just reacting to the spring melt... and then refreeze, and then melt again). Hope you feel better soon!
