Single-Digit Sizing!

Thursday, March 28, 2013

I am still sick, but Easter is coming. Tomorrow is Good Friday and that is a holiday in Canada so stores and businesses are closed. I needed a haircut and I had to get some beige hose to wear with my new Spring outfit. All winter I have been wearing black, but that won't do with the colourful skirt and top I have been waiting a couple of weeks for an opportunity to wear. (I hope they are not too big!)

I had just enough energy for a trip to the mall this morning. Got a walk-in appointment for a haircut then looked around a bit and bought the stuff I needed. A lady said they were filming a television show at the other end of the mall but I was too tired to go and have a look, despite her trying to entice me with free giveaways.

It occurred to me when I got home that since I was wearing a pair of size 8 jeans, I should try on my wedding dress again, since it is a size 8. (I had a city hall wedding, so didn't bother with a traditional gown.) It is a nice white dress that I bought in an expensive department store in downtown Toronto back in 1989, the year I got married. The fabric hasn't held up well with the passage of time, so I would never wear it again -- except to try it on and see if it fits, which I did today.

It is SO close to fitting.

I can get it done up; the back looks great and it falls nicely, but the buttons at the front are tight.

Here is a (blurry) photo of how I looked in the dress on the day. When it fits again, I will take another photo. (I think I still have the hat somewhere, too.)

(I love the lady in the registry office here. So typically 80s with her big hair and animal-print blouse.)
