Can I vent?

Why do my children refuse to go to sleep. It's 11pm. I am single mom burned out. No help. NO family. And now not a minute to myself when awake. I need to be alone and cry. Cant even do that. Rant over.

I hope you are feeling better by the time you read this and had a chance to get some sleep yourself.

Yeah, that really is the toughest thing. Being a single mom is very, very hard and frustrating. Even being a mom with a husband sometimes I want to scream. I just can't be the calm go to person I want to be. Hopefully things get better for your son medically and then it won't be so hard to put them to bed.

I hope they went to bed soon and you had some time for yourself. That's very tough, but hang in there! emoticon emoticon

Single motherhood is the toughest job on this planet, especially if there are medical issues involved. When you say you "have no luck with doctors", are you referring to your son's issues or getting some sleep aides for yourself?

When things got really tough for me, I would go into the bathroom, turn on the shower, and just sit down and cry. Let it out - it's good for you. It's needed! It does help!!!

Here any time you want to "talk" - just message me!! emoticon

Can you put the younger one to bed earlier than the older one so they don't have a chance to play, talk, etc?

Or put them in their beds with a book and at least that gives you some down time. I know you need some time to yourself. All moms do.

Would you be able to get them outside for a bit before or after supper to maybe tire them out just a bit.

I know it sounds impossible but try to treat yourself to something once a week even if it is having a cup of tea. I learned that if you don't take care of yourself you can't take care of anyone else. So put yourself at the top of the to do list.

I recommend Lady Gray or Prince of Wales tea. Both are good black.

MY older son has medical issues at night which are worsening and now he's keeping his little brother awake. I've tried everything. They have to share a room, no other choice there.
I have no luck with doctors. But I may have to try a sleep study.
No idea why I got all this put on me.

So sorry to hear this ): As soon as my son gets in his bed I make sure he has went to the bathroom, I give him one drink, then right before I walk out and close the door, I make sure to tell him that it is Quiet time and Sleep time. Which means no calling to mommy. No yelling for a drink. No getting out of his bed unless there is something seriously wrong.

He has finally got the point after a few weeks of this. He does still have a few nights when he doesn't want to sleep (usually after a day where he was cooped up in the house and didn't get all of his energy out that day). But the other nights are so peaceful. Maybe try that? And if they keep getting up then keep putting them back in the bed without even speaking to them.

It is so aggravating when they don't go to sleep when we want them to! They don't seem to understand that we need the down time LOL. Hope you have better luck and get the quiet time you are looking for! emoticon
