I have been an active supporter of the American Heart Association (AHA) for the last 3 years. This will be the 4th and 2nd time I have completed the 5k walk. Thought my pictures were here but they are at home.
Although there are lots of non-profit walks and runs, I prefer to do mine for a cause. I think because when I tell people I will walk if they help me raise money, I feel more obligated to follow through. When I finished the first one, I sent my supporters pictures of me at the finish line. In 2011, I had back surgery and could not walk so I did not fund raise. In 2012, I was a supporter.
I wanted to post this blog today as it is wear red for women day at AHA.
Below is the link to educate yourselves on what AHA does and on the various heart diseases as well.

I walk for many people but wanted to list the women I walk for here:
Mom, suffered from heart & stroke disease, passed in 2008, 78 [know you're in heaven where you are happier]
Carey, niece, 34, POTS
Macey, great niece, 11, diagnosed with neurocardiosyncopy at age 6
Chloe, great niece, 9, diagnosed with neurocardiosyncopy at age 6
MrsWhiteWolf, Nadine, fellow sparker & community AHA spokesperson
For the men in my life, just can't pass by without honoring them also:
Grandpa Doering, pacemaker, passed at 79 (?)
Grandpa Harrold, stroke, passed at 67 (?)
Father, heart and cholesterol, passed at 49 [still miss you daddy!]
Uncle Tom, quad bypass, 2007, 66
Ralph, dearest Husband, triple bypass, Feb 27, 2008
Hod, Brother, triple bypass, March 12, 2008
Richard Brookins, cousin, triple bypass, 2009
The tears I weep for all of you as I type are tears of love and joy. Joy for times remembered of those who have gone on. Joy for those who have benefitted from research and survived surgery. Joy for the youg ones who were diagnosed early and are living healthier lives to live longer. Love for each and every one of you. Joy for all those who work tirelessly to improve heart health in any manner!
This is a picture of my young nieces at about the age they were diagnosed with CPS.
I am walking March 17, 2013. I am hopeful my dear husband will be able to join me. If you are interested in more details on events or other info, please spmail me.
