Couch to 5K Week THREE Day TWO/ Jan 23, 2013

Wednesday, January 23, 2013

I was reading about morning running, and I thought, well, I feel stiff in the morning, but, my 5Ks will be in the early morning… so I had planned to set my alarm earlier and get up and run before my kids or even my dog (luckily he's lazy) get up. I planned to do this yesterday. But I didn't get up, I wasn't feeling well, but what made me feel worse, was that I didn't do it.
I did it today.
It felt great to get it done before I had to wake up the kids, or even walk the dog.

In other news, my feet are killing me. Walking is hard after I sit for a few minutes. :( The plantar thingamagiggy issue I have in my arches is acting up. So I have to ice. Worse I have to find time to do that.

Also, I think I should do yoga on days off.. so off to find a good yoga program to do at home! I wish I still had a normal cable TV company that has free exercise programs. But I have Verizon VIOS which does not and make everything complicated. I do not like VIOS, Sam I am.

Me too. I have to get new shoes every 5-6 months or my feet ache. Make sure you get the right shoes. I bought some LunarGlide recently... I love them but their arch is in the wrong place for my feet and if I kept wearing them they would have given me plantar fasciitis so I had to return them. Have you gone to a real running store and gotten your feet checked out? I have gone to several and they all told me the same thing and for the past 3 years I have needed the same shoes. Asics 2160s, then 2170s (they run up in series every year. The good part about real running shoes is that once you find your series, you can just keep buying the same shoes upgrade every year). This year its the 2000s (not sure where 2180 went) and I 'll be getting those as soon as I have the cash (tax time probably). The right pair of shoes can make all the difference in the world. I had the wrong shoes last year as filler-inners and they gave me ankle pain and knee pain.
Recently when I bought the replacement pair for my burnedout 2170s, I had the old one on and the new one on and I couldn't believe the difference in how they felt. The old one was completely dilapidated and flattened out, no support at all.
Way to go with your c25k! Livestrong is next month and I always think of you and our plans :(
I am going to do the Paramount Break-a-leg which is the 5k portion of the Livestrong, same location and same time just not the marathon/half and benefits a different program. But depending on how tomorrow goes (my 10k). I may be tempted to walk/run/walk/walk/walk/walk the half. If you register this year, you get next year free. Maybe next year for us ;)

I wear arch supports in my running shoes! Um, I guess I should ask my doctor.. but maybe I DO need new shoes! Thanks for the comment!

Great job getting that walk in I have plantar thingamagiggy issues at times as well. I find it is more of a problem when I am needing new shoes. The problem is it hurts my feeling to buy a new pair when the old ones still 'look' fine....but once the support is gone in them, it is buy a new pair or hobble around time....!!!
