Getting through a difficult time

Tuesday, January 22, 2013

Right now DD and GS are out looking for an apartment which means they are probably going to leave here emoticon pretty soon. I hope they can find something affordable that's nice for them since moving is such a big production on any level. We seem to be getting along fine for now, but part of me is overwhelmed even though I'm managing okay. I say this because I seem to have the beginning of an upper respiratory thing which I have not experienced in the past 5 years since I have been living alone. I don't think all the chocolate and the 2 ice cream pints over the past week have helped me be healthy either. I was wondering how that would affect me and now I know. I got caught up in DD's emotional upheaval and breakup and that's not good for me. So yesterday and today I am back on my righteous food horse and hoping to gallop into good health again. I just read a blog by a SPARKER on how she needed to listen to her body. It was on the sugar craving challenge team, and it really spoke to me. That's how we help one another, and I'm so grateful for that sharing that helped me see my reflection in her words. For now I'm drinking my fruit juices, and even if they are a bit sugary, I'll dilute them a little, and have hot soup besides. Here's to health..l'chaim emoticon

Oh, Patty, how I can relate to what you're going through. Emotional eating has always been my problem. I eat when I'm sad, troubled, lonely, etc., but especially if one of my children is going through a troublesome time in their life. I'll be praying for you and your family, especially that your DD and GS find a nice place of their own. Take care of yourself and don't let that upper respiratory thing get out of control!
    Hugs,

I know how awful stress can be, it's been two years of caretaking for here for me. But one stress dissipates only to be replaced by another, that's life. Rather than eat over it I read books, light reading books with no redeeming value as literature, but it gets me past the need to eat. I have a recorded book and a paper book both going at the same time. It fills the mental space between meals. Other people find other mental diversions. It not only gets me to the next meal, it takes my mind off my own life for awhile. If you look, you will find something that works for you.

Emotions are THE WORST for healthy eating. I have the same problem, and watching those we love suffer is one of the more devastating emotions. Lots of luck dear friend.

Heres to you getting back on the horse, and good luck to those searching for a place. It is always such an ordeal.

Hi Patty, You're eating probably didn't help but just dealing with all the stress and upheaval of what you're DD and GS are going through affects you and your health. When I do get a cold, which isn't often, it's usually when I'm totally stressed out and not taking good care of myself. We do learn so much about ourselves from what others share about themselves in their blogs. I'm glad something touched you and helped you to get back to what you know works best for you. Praying that your family finds a good and safe home of their own and you can focus better on what you need to do for yourself. Try to do some meditation and de-stress and take one thing at a time.

    Hugs,

    Jill

I'll be praying you feel better soon! I know what you mean...I've been on an ice cream emotional week and gained 8 lbs!
All we can do in our lives is pray and trust the LORD to do what's right for us........we just happen to forget that sometimes (me included)
Take care Patty and I''l keep you in my prayers emoticon emoticon

Patty, you have been through so very much since I've known you for over a year and I'm always very surprised on how you always bounce back. You will do the same this time, because, as usual, I'll be praying for you! (hugs) Noel

Try spraying your throat with food grade hydrogen peroxide diluted to 3 %. Helps keep the germs in the throat from dropping. Food grade is sold at health food stores. and will last you a hundred years!! Unless you can find a small bottle of it. It's 35% so you dilute it so much you don't need a big jar. Good luck. And you are a good Mom.

Wishing you (and your DD and GS) all the best, Patty. It sounds like you are definitely doing the right thing by listening to your body. I love that we can all learn so much every single day if we just listen and read and study! Sending you healing prayers! Hugs, Jeannie
