Ok so here is some background with some of the challenges I have faced & some of the problems I have had with my health/weight:
When I was a sophomore in h.s. (about 7 yrs ago) I decided it was a great idea not to eat very much & when I did I would then purge. This went on for about 6 months & I went from 185 to 125 lbs. I kept it up for the next year or so when I noticed myself gaining a few lbs. I eventually grew out of it & gained weight to about the 150 range. In my SR year of h.s. & the year after I would get really stressed out & get these big painful bumps. I went to 3 or 4 dr's & a dermatologist. Nobody knew what they were or what was I
causing it. I haven't had any since the month before I moved from CA to VA in 2004& I was about 165 lbs. I was able to maintain my weight for a few months but then it seemed as if I was eating the same things I had always ate & working out the same way & I was packing on the lbs. I have had a couple dr's check my thyroid none of them were concerned because my levels were "normal". Well just in the past year I have gained so much weight! I started asking around for good doctors & got a few great recommendations.
So last Friday I headed to a new dr. He came highly reccomended-He was amazing! He said even though my levels may come back normal (which they have dropped a lot in 1 yr) that level may not be normal for my body. He said I have a lot of sympots associated with hypothyroid-as well as those bumps I was getting. He knew the name of them & said they were symptoms as well & sometimes will occur at the onset of having hypothyroid. So he did some blood work & said even if my levels were in normal range if they were low he wanted to put me on medication. So I am just waiting to hear back. He said if it wasn't my throid he would like to investigate further! So moral of the story for all those who think there is something wrong talk to your dr if they don't have any interest get a new dr!
On another note...last week was so great I had dropped 5.5 lbs I have been eating a lot of the same things this week & I am up 2 :O( Hopefully this wont be a trend!!
