I stay so tired.... and I get very weird muscle cramps...aka "Charlie horses"

I am always very tired... All day... Almost everyday. I barely have the energy to Get out of bed. Even on days when I feel great... There is still that sneaky feeling of exhaustion in everything I do. I have ADD... Would this have something to do with it? I also get Charlie horses in my feet and toes... My husband says it's because I'm not getting something in my diet that I desperately need... And they are so bad that my Toes actually cross by themselves when it happens and it hurts Soooo bad. Any advice on thus one bloggers? I take all kinds of things for my Energy problem and nothing seems to work.

    Hi Sweetie! You are so cute with your funny face! The banana idea is good, but pop a potassium pill every day to get enough potassium in your system to prevent the lfoot and toe cramps. Also, slip slivers of soap under the sheets where your feet can come in contact with them. Don't know why, but it works. A fast fix in the midst of a cramp session is a half glass of tonic water. It comes in diet so it won't sidetrack the weight loss. Works for me. Another thing that works for people is mustard (some keep packets from fast food places beside the bed). I'm not too fond of that sharp taste in the middle of the night!

    Good luck! You have a lot on your plate being friend to those step children, loving your husband, and working on school! Whew! No wonder you're tired!

    I second the eating a banana every day. If you are not taking a good multi vitamin, I would encourage you to start. Also, take a look at how much water you are drinking and really pay attention to the nutrition labels to see how much sodium you are consuming. On average, we should not be getting more than 2000 mg of sodium per day. Some processed foods like soup and frozen lunches (like healthy choice, or lean cuisines) can have up to half of the daily recommended sodium in them.

    I have ADHD and I find myself constantly exhausted. How do you sleep at night? Do you wake up a lot thinking?

    You were having anemia problems last week and that can cause exhaustion. As Evie suggested, a full workup would be beneficial. Also a lack of potassium can cause Charlie horses. Try eating a banana every day. Even if it doesn't help the cramps, it's still a serving of fruit!

    I don't know if the ADD would be related to exhaustion. What meds are you taking for it? Have you read the side effects? I'm supposed to take Adderall... exhaustion is not a problem when I do!

    Are the cramps new, btw? How long has the exhaustion been going on? With the problems you were having last week, I'd definitely recommend going back to the doctor for further tests.

    I suggest going to the dr and having him do a thorough blood work up. I was going thru this.. including the toe cramping. Found out I was anemic. Have been getting infusions, ( last one is today and hopefully done) and it seems to have helped alot. You should score 20 or above, mine was down to 13. But, don't just go out and buy otc iron pills. Do the blood work up FIRST. Too much iron in your system is very dangerous. Good Luck.
