Day 382

Thursday, December 13, 2012

Well, 12/12/12 wasn't so magical after all. I found staring down a plateful of cookies after dinner at my mom's last night, and the cookies won. Feeling a bit defeated as I'm getting the exercise in and working hard at that part, then I undo any progress because I can't not eat the cookies... I know I could have removed myself, but I was sitting at the table with my family, we were having a pleasant conversation, I should be able to not eat the freakin' cookies.

I have been working with my "Why Weight" workbook, and am starting to make what I think is some headway...finding "roots" that didn't exist many years ago when I first delved into this topic.. Not quite ready to go public with what I think is going on, or at least contributing, but I am intrigued.. More work to do before I draw any conclusions, though.

On the bright side, I upped my hard workout time on the bike from the 15 minutes I've been doing for most of the last week or so to 20 today, so that is good. I hope to stay with that amount for a while, and then get it up to 25.. baby steps continue to be my chosen method for those gradual lifestyle changes..

I hope everyone has a spark-filled day...

Here's an exercise that I try to fo when confronted with yummies like cookies.
    * have one. Taste it. Really taste it. Take a small bite. Try to pick out the ingredients. Think about the cookie/candy/cake. Does it REALLY taste good?
Are you eating it because you are bored? (do something with your hands)
Are you eating it because someone special made it? (Truly enjoy 1 (one) thank them, ask for recipe if they are sharing)
Are you eating it because it's tradition? Is it time to set some new traditions?
Are you eating it because it REALLY tastes good? Enjoy one. Make it special. If you take the time to taste and enjoy and think about the experience, the second one* almost* never tastes as good.
As always, drink more water with a little lemon, tea, coffee, something without added sugar. Be sure to take sips in between. At least then, you'll be drinking more, eating less!!

Hugs on the cookie war last night, but good job keeping the exercise going. Glad you're finding some stuff in the workbook that helps you.

Sorry to hear about the cookies winning (it happens to the best of us), but with doing the exercise don't feel defeated, if you weren't the effects of the cookies would have even been worst for you.

You are beating the exercise fight, way to go!!
