Getting it in

I was supposed to run a 5k yesterday but life got in the way. Life got in the way and derailed my training; then I was no longer able to get to the race.
I got a battery for my scale a couple of weeks ago, and even though I know there are many ways to measure success, the scale is the first one I need to keep my weight in check. So after several weeks scale-free, I was pleased to see the numbers hadn't changed much (I was within a few pounds of where I was when the battery died).
So with the scale back in effect and life now settling down, it was with great joy and excitement I rejoined a gym. I've been getting it in on a regular with my cardio - back to my c25k training!
Just starting week 3 today but I'm motivated in a way that's different than before. I'm not sure what it is, but I want to go get on that dang treadmill and run. I'm looking forward to running the whole workout without stopping and then being able to run a 5k in 45 minutes or less. Not a very lofty goal for some but for me, who's had a lifelong love/hate relationship with running, it's pretty big. It feels so completely do-able I have to control my enthusiasm and not over do it.
I already know that the weight training I plan to begin today will only help. In the past, I've always started weights first because that's what I like but I purposely started cardio - c25k - first. I can tell the difference when I did walking lunges 'just to see how it felt' and it was so much easier for me than i thought it would be...I know my 5k training will go even better with the addition of strength training and the weight loss will just follow because....
I know healthy is good and I need and want to lose the excess pounds but this time, I want to be a runner. That's the difference this l...a...s...t go round. I want to become a runner and run till the end of my days. Yay!
