Born to Move. Proud of My Body.

Wednesday, October 24, 2012

I was thinking yesterday....

I have one friend in the hospital after a major surgery, a cousin in the hospital with internal bleeding (they think from her previous gastric bypass surgery), a friend with brain cancer, and another friend recovering from breast cancer and its treatment.

Here I am, getting frustrated because of what my body won't do (immediate gratification) and there is so much my body IS doing! My body is a clear statement to my Creator that I cherish this simple gift of life. I am, overall, healthy. I have an opportunity to continue that through the fuel that I give this beautiful body of mine, and through the movement that I gift my body with.

Don't take for grated that movement is a gift to your body. We were designed to move. Think about that. You began this process in your mother's womb - kicking about, flipping, and as soon as you reached this world you couldn't wait to crawl, walk, run - MOVE!

One of the recent board posts I read (and commented) is: When was the last time and how are you proud of yourself? I've decided I'm going to include that thought in my blog. And ask you: what are YOU proud of today?

I got up early enough to make an eggwhite and yellow bellpepper omlette, and have already done 10 minutes of cardio - I even high-fived the computer screen and Coach Nicole when the workout was over. I'm planning for 10 more at lunch.

You were born to move.
Be proud of that - honor that.

Standing.
Stretching.
Smiling.

Move.

(love to all you wonderful sparking-spirits)

Another great post by you. I agree it's so true. I have lost a few close friends over the past 5 years and it makes you take a look at what you have, sometimes what we take for granted. Thanks for the reminder

So true, our whole life is about movement. When I went to medical assisting school my teacher use to drill that into our heads... when you stop moving you start dying.. It sounds drastic, but having watched a lot of people in all conditions of illness - they start getting better when they are able to start moving.

Tyank you for this blog. I have neglected a lot of movement today. Just didn't feel like it. It is 7:30 pm now but I can still get up from the computer every 30 minutes and go stand outside in the cool air for 5 minutes. Standing is way better for me than just sitting.

And it sounds like you are doing just GREAT! Thanks for the positive thoughts coming my way. Gives us a new sense of appreciation doesn't it, when we ponder other peoples' difficulties.

I agree, it is often easy to take for granted the gifts God has has given us. I do the same, then am humbled by the efforts others make who have it harder. Thank you for writing.

Even in the midst of my blues, it's easy to look around and see people whose problem is worse than mine. I see people in wheelchairs doing their shopping. I see people who are much more obese than I am. I see people who have lost their teeth. I ought to honor and value the health I have. I took a nice walk today and feel like maybe I have done that. Thanks for the reminder.
