Walking with Scooby - October 18, 2012 - The Suicidal Rabbit

Thursday, October 18, 2012

So I am happy to report that Scooby and I were able to get our entire 2 mile walk in today.. It was an easy walk as far as he was concerned, and what I like about that is that when he is walking well, I can really concentrate on getting my speed up..and he just cooperated really well today.

So there is one part of the walk where there is a house that has a lot of bushes and trees around it, and as we walked along, I see this little rabbit hop right out in front of us and scurry to underneath one of these big bushes to the side of the driveway. Incredibly, I saw it before Scooby knew it was there, and began to walk towards the middle of the street before he saw it, so he got excited but calmed down pretty quickly, because the rabbit disappeared, but then, we turned the corner around this house, and lo and behold, there was the little guy all over again, hopping from one giant bush to another!! Luckily, I was again able to maneuver Scooby away fast, and no fur went flying..

But honestly, I thought these animals had some kind of sixth sense to them to keep them from dangerous situations. It's not like we're quiet when we walk, I am always chatting with Scooby, reminding him to stay on my left, or slow down, or commending him when he does do those things..and his toenails click, click, click along the road.. But I saw the rabbit before Scooby knew it was there, and the rabbit put itself out there right in front of me, and more, a DOG! So I have concluded that Scooby has lost all his animal instinct because he doesn't need it to feed himself, and that this little bunny had some kind of suicide wish!!

No harm, no foul.. the walk continued, and was a success.

And for anyone keeping track, we only had one "poop" stop this morning!! emoticon

Have a Sparky kind of day!!

I think the bunny had her mind on other things. Maybe she was mentally logging calories or trying to choose between different blades of grass. Anyway, I glad Scooby didn't get to take advantage of the situation! Enjoy your walks!!

Sounds like you have Scooby well trained and he knew not to pull and run after the bunny. And yes, I also think the bunny was alittle crazy. Have fun on your walks with Scooby. emoticon emoticon emoticon

Could be a pet rabbit that is used to dogs. Our rabbit was never scared of the hounds. Would go up to them in the yard when they were sleeping and nudge their noses to wake them up.

Too funny! We get a kick out of the "wild" animals in our yard. It's like Toby either is ignoring them or just doesn't care any more. We joke that the rabbits are just laughing at him. He'll chase after them, but the zig-zag around and he'll lose them. Dogs are just funny! Have a great day!

hahahahaha!! Chance has nearly yanked my arm out a' the socket when he's seen a _____ whatever, T!! I can't imagine trying to hang on to Scooby!! emoticon Oh, my word, he will NOW have a *permanent* imprint in his brain on WHERE the rabbit lives!! ::giggles:: I'm always chatting with Chance too. emoticon Rabbits can be pretty brave when they live in neighborhoods. Some of 'em will just sit there, alongside your gardens, and belligerently STARE at you!! heeheehee!! ANYWAY... lucky for that kamikaze bunny that Scooby was on a leash!!

I'm not on 'poop' count but I am thoroughly thrilled that you're one of the few 'pooper-scooper' owners that will actually clean up after your pet's business!! We even have pet post receptacles (like a vending machine- only you don't have to outright pay... probably included in the HOA fee) with baggies for doin' the pick up. And still... there's those who refuse to bend/stoop down and maintain... SHEESH!!!

You have a *sparky* day too, girlfriend!!
