Each day as we get up we don't know what curves life will throw at us. Today my hubby and I have an appointment at the cardiologist to find out what is happening with his heart. He has had an angiogram and there are no blockages, but he is having angina. Of course I am worried. Also my Mom who lives about 1200 miles from me is recovering from strokes that happened a few weeks ago. I have lots of family who are with her but it is not the same as being there. To say I am torn, is an understatement. I know I am where I should be but that does not stop the guilt. Are we born with this in our genes?
So how do I cope with this stress? I exercise and watch my diet. This has helped me In the past and it is surely helping me right now.
I had joined the 5% Challenge before my Mom had her stroke and I thought I was going to have to quit before it even started, but she is doing well. And then the challenge started on our Thanksgiving weekend with me having house guests for the weekend. How was I ever going to manage staying on track, getting in the necessary computer time and still being a good hostess. Well, you know what, it all worked out.
It was a tough weekend with all that food around, everyone having a few glasses of wine, and me not doing my regular exercise routine. I stepped on the scale this morning and I have not gained.......I have even lost a little. So we can handle the curves that life throws at us, can't we? Like the ad says....JUST DO IT!
