Week 4 and chugging along

Monday, October 08, 2012

Okay, so I'm a part of the BLC20 and we are 4 weeks in. Now for an update as to how it is going thus far. Well, I'm losing. I am making better choices AND logging my food. Is it completely accurate? No, not at all as some things I must just wing but I'm trying. In the past I'd a just said forget it. Tracking the sodium has been interesting and I still struggle with veggies. Honest truth - I don't like many and I tire of salads. So I'm still a work in progress. As I mentioned, I weighed myself this morning but 'official' weigh-in isn't till Wednesday so my short-term goal is to keep it here. I will have lost a total of 4 lbs since we started. Of course these last 10 are the hardest but I am also fearful as I know 'maintenance' has eluded me in the past. I will have to get with those who are there and have been successful to help me figure it out for the long haul but I guess I'll not worry myself into gaining by thinking about it now. I gotta get there first. But is is close, I can see the light at the end of the tunnel. emoticon

My exercise has been up and down. I do know I need to push a little harder. Add a little more weight on that bar when doing squats or dead rows. Burn those muscles. Some days I just don't want to. But, I do know it will help so I gotta push.

So as the saying goes, slow and steady wins the race. And just think, it has only taken me to this round (3rd by the way) to get my head really wrapped into it and make the necessary changes.

Hi Weezie, you are doing great and you will get to your goal. I have been in maintenance twice now and you will do fine with it. My problem is that I stopped excercising and ate what I want only to find my weight up again. emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

I agree with the others - you're doing great. And maintenance is hard! I find it much easier to set my sights on losing ... in maintenance mode it's just too easy to relax. emoticon emoticon

I think 4 pounds in 4 weeks is very good. Do you like vegetable soup? It is going to be that kind of weather.

4 pounds in 4 weeks is Fantastic!! Especially since you have less to lose overall, and you are SO close to maintenance, it is harder for you to lose weight, yes?
Hmmm...veggies...do you like crunchy things? Celery sticks, baby carrots, broccoli salad. Have you ever tried kohlrabi or jicama? They are both crunchy and light tasting, almost sort of sweet. All raw, too. Easy to prep and have on hand!

maintenance is both easy and hard
easy because by this time you have learned a new pattern of eating and exercising as a way of life
hard because you have to keep up the same exercise pace (or add some more) and can't do backsliding with your food choices either even if those parties and restaurants tempt you

You are doing so well and I'm proud of both of us as we both face our "Demons"!! I'm not wild about a lot of veggies either and I too tire of the salad bar. Also hard on my gut!!! emoticon emoticon
