Lots for me to think about...

Sunday, September 16, 2012

Hello,

I was just checking in with SparkCoach and a link led me to my blog. I didn't think I really had a lot to say today except I thought about how I was 'starting over for the LAST time'. This got me thinking -- I've been 'starting over for the LAST time' for quite some time now.

So, I decided to look back over my recorded journey with SparkPeople. I joined SparkPeople on 5/12/2004. WOW -- I've been a member for a long time! But I can tell by the number of friends I have on here (very few) that I haven't really made the most of SparkPeople. I HAVE exercised fairly regularly (currently 16, 161 minutes!) and I have earned lots of SparkPoints along the way (currently 29,341) and trophies too, but I really need to become more a part of the SparkPeople Community. I've been on the sidelines for too long -- it's time to get in and play!

Also, I was reviewing some of my history with SparkPeople -- I almost reset everything during one of my 'starting over again for the LAST times' (which would have erased all of my past information) and I'm so glad I didn't.

Looking over my past weigh ins, I noticed that I bounced around quite a bit. My weight varied from:

162 - 12/26/2006 -- my lowest weight during my time with SparkPeople
198 - 9/3/2009 -- my all time highest weight ever

I'm 5'7" and 162 is a BMI of 25.4 which is considered overweight.
198 is a BMI of 31.1 which is considered obese.

Obese. O b e s e. OBESE! OMG! That was quite a sobering thought for me. I've never considered myself obese -- definitely overweight and chubby and fat...but not OBESE. OMG.

Things need to change.

A healthy weight range for my height would be: 118-158

118 is on the edge of being underweight (too low for me -- though I did weigh 119 when I was in my mid-20's and doing not so healthy things to be that weight) and 158 is on the edge of being overweight. For now, my goal is to be 150. I was there (a while back) and I would like to be that weight again. I think it's perfectly normal to be a few pounds heavier now that you're 29 again'... Oh hell, I just turned 51. Time to admit it.

My weights through the years. Just something for me to think about. Time to get off this rollercoaster...
