Colonoscopy at 50
Saturday, September 15, 2012
Today, I got up at 4:40 a.m to get dressed for a 7:00 a.m. colonoscopy procedure.
The prep was uneventful. I drank two 32 oz. bottles of Gatorade and took 5 Ducolax laxatives with lots of water. I ate popsicles and jello all day. I was never hunger or uncomfortable, at all.
I am not a morning person. I walked out of the house into pouring rain. Got the facility and the nurse put needle in my arm to prep for the anesthesiologist and it started to bleed like a faucet. Blood was pouring down my arm, the covers, my gown, the floor. Whew! It a good thing that I'm not queezy. She felt really bad. I jokingly said to her, that's alright, I have blood to spare.
Colonoscopy results, I have diverticulosis (bulging of a section of bowels), found one very small pollup and hemmoroids. I'm feeling very old.
The fix is, I've been told to do Metamcil every day. Consider it done.
I'll call in a day or two for the biopsy results of the pollup. The doctor indicated he didn't think it was an issue.
Has anyone else had a colonscopy? What was your experience?
I was very gassy after the procedure.
