There have been so many who have sent me messages concerning our 44th anniversary that I thought this would be the best way to say emoticon for your kind words. 44 years is a long time to be married to one guy, but Don is my very best friend and has been for a very long time. We married when he was 19 and I was 17. We really have grown up together.

Today has been very special for us. We started the day just sitting and having coffee and talking about what we wanted to do today. We ran a couple of errands and then had lunch at a really good barbecue place here in Pasadena. After that we bought tickets to a movie and had about an hour to kill before it started. Went to Hobby Lobby and just walked around looking at various and sundry items. Bought a calendar for next year and that was all we bought. Went to the movie and saw "Hope Springs." It was OK but not at all what I thought it would be. Don had to have his popcorn and soft drink, and, of course, I couldn't resist helping him eat it. He knows salty items are one of my weaknesses.

After the movie we went to the mall and walked around some. Went to Starbucks and had a skinny caramel coffee. It was really good. Then on to World Market and more walking. I really love that place. Didn't buy anything, but I love to look.

We were going to go out to dinner tonight to a nice seafood restaurant, but we were both completely wrung out with all the walking and looking we did. Wound up coming home and having leftovers from last night's dinner.

As you can see, we didn't do anything spectacular, but we did spend the day together. We told the kids we would be out of pocket all day today so we haven't seen them at all. That's a very unusual day when we don't see at least one of them.

Again, a very big thank you to everyone who wished us well. I am blessed to be a part of such a loving, caring group as you are. Take care and I'll check in again soon.

What can be better than a day with your best friend? I smiled when you said you'd grown up together, that is so true of any of us who married young.
    Congratulations on your special day!

Sounds like you had a wonderful day! DH and I are coming up on our 41st in February. Can hardly believe it!
We tend to keep anniversary and birthday celebrations low key. My DH has his 66th birthday on Tuesday, and the only celebrating we are dong is going out to dinner tomorrow evening with our eldest daughter and her fiance. We are looking forward to it because they are such fun and we don't see them nearly enough. (We live in VT and they are in CT--we usually arrange to meet halfway in between).
    Congrats again!
