I already won...

Last evening, in the spirit of doing some things this year that scare me, I volunteered to represent our public library on a spelling bee team. Out local literacy council holds this event as a fundraiser each year and I was up on stage in front of hundreds of people.
I was on a team of three; me, the library director and a the techinical manager.
As it turns out, we placed eighth out of eleven teams. We got a word that none of us had ever heard of - calumny (The making of false and defamatory statements in order to damage someone's reputation; slander).
Also, one of the judges was our county DA, who I knew in high school.
(I managed not to make a fool of myself in front of him.)
But seriously folks, I felt like I a winner. I had the guts to get up there and try, which all of the other people at the library did not. I supported my teammates when they were nervous and my good friend told me that I looked relaxed and comfortable on stage. Yay me!
