Making a start

Monday, June 04, 2012

I have never blogged before so I feel it's about time I start!
I have been quite disappointed with myself lately. Most days eat the right things and stay within my calories. However, for some ANNOYING reason I always have strong cravings on a night and give in to them! I don't know why I do it when I can control my cravings for the day. Take tonight for instance, when I tracked my calories for the day I had went over by about 25 calories so I wasn't bothered by this and knew it wouldn't hurt my weight loss efforts. Just about an hour later I got up and ate a large piece of cake from the fridge and went wayyy over my calories for the day! Does anyone else ever find themselves doing this?

Anyways! When I do go over my calories a lot I try not to beat myself up about it and just tell myself not to give up emoticon . There's always tomorrow and right now I'm looking forward to doing better from now!

Aisha.

I'm not really sure why I crave stuff so much at night, I always have even since I was like 12! I do try and do try and keep my mind of food and stay away from the kitchen. I do try and save some calories for an evening snack but I think I should try and save a few more until I learn not to give in so much! I think swapping things for weight watchers desserts and stuff is a good idea, but it is usually someone else who buys the treats so I don't have any control of what is brought into the house which makes it difficult emoticon
Thanks for the advice I think keeping myself more occupied and night and getting healthy swaps will help make a difference
Thank you for the advice emoticon

Any idea why your cravings hit so hard at night? Boredom? Worried about tomorrow? Can you think of changes in your routine to tempt you away from cravings: like a bath when you'd be reaching for cake? Reading a great story? Keeping your hands busy with crafts, so you don't want to stop? Another option: can you "bank" some calories during the day and plan out an evening snack while still staying in range? What about a healthier swap: a skinny cow instead of cake, or a weight watcher dessert if you're craving sweet? There are tons of dessert recipes on Spark, too. It's been a real struggle for me to stay within calorie range lately. You're absolutely right not to beat yourself up. This is a process! Just keep going!
