A beautiful Easter day

Sunday, April 08, 2012

Just wanted to write a few words to reinforce my commitment to staying on track before I "hit the hay" for the night. It's fairly early but I had a full day and my TV is in the bedroom so that's where I'm going before I get tempted to ruin my day with extra food.
I was very blessed to have my daughter and grandson in church with me this morning. My GS even liked the sermon about carrying the weight of our sins, vs giving the burden to Jesus. The pastor did a really good object lesson with a 20 pound barbell, lifted once by a little boy, and then by a young man who did weight lifting. Even the weight lifter was limited by the length of time he was able to hold the barbell over his head, the barbell representing the weight of our sins. So the lesson was to leave our sins at the foot of the cross, because Jesus died for that purpose: That we could be free from the burden of sin, and cleansed from sin by the blood that he shed at Calvary.
After church we went to the Olive Garden Restaurant and had a delicious lunch. I had planned on ordering the Apricot glazed chicken, on the recommendation of Dr. Oz (from his show), and it was wonderful. It came with a side of asparagus, broccoli, and chopped tomatoes. I ordered the salad bowl with light dressing, and it was so light that it was barely there, which was just perfect! Then we came home and had GS's favorite flavor ice cream, which I had bought especially for him and saved for 4 days in my freezer; an Easter miracle!! After a brief visit, my daughter and grandson left and I changed into comfy clothes, called a friend who had been too ill to go to church, and just relaxed . I had a light dinner of cereal, blackberries, and almond milk, which is one of the perks of living alone and not having to cook for anyone else!
Hope everyone had a lovely day. Blessings to all my dear Spark friends. emoticon

Good job! Great planning and you were in control! The Venetian Apricot chicken is usually what I order when I go to Olive Garden. I also order the light Italian dressing on the side and get the salad dry. What an awesome Easter blessing to have your loved ones with you in church!

Your Easter Day sounds just perfect sharing your day with your DD and GS and eating healthy within your calorie range. I am so proud of you being able to not have a bite of that ice cream in your freezer for 4 days as that would definitely be challenging to say the least. Your church sermon hit home with me so I'm glad you shared that and it reminded me I need to do that myself as he died on a cross to forgive us for our sins and have an everlasting life to look forward to. Have another wonderful day!

    Love,

Wonderful Easter day for you and the family..
Olive Garden choices sounds real good.
Our family had brunch at a restaurant too.
I keep it light. Had prime beef ,salad, fruit. One half of a roll.
I am calling it a night too. One of the perks from living alone, can eat when and what you want and then watch TV from the bed. But I will take my dish of grapes to snack on.
    Take care and stay positive.
