I had a checkup at the doctor's office this week. It was all good news! I had lost 15 lbs. in the 6 weeks since I had been there last!!! My doctor was so proud of me.
Here's the story: I had been feeling really bad for several months prior to joining SparkPeople in December. I was so fatigued all the time. I had pains everywhere and there was no relief! I have a whole family to take care of, so this couldn't go on anymore. I finally went to the doctor in mid-December, and she came to the conclusion that I really need to get back in shape and lose some serious weight.
I went poking around the internet, and found SparkPeople. I have lost 15 lbs. and feel like a million dollars! I'm getting back in shape...I've done a lot of fitness videos here on SparkPeople, got the 28 Day Bootcamp DVD, I'm going on walks, and I do a Pilates class down the street once a week.
Tracking my food here on SparkPeople has been great! I love how it calculates the protein, fat, and carbs for you. One of my problems was that I didn't get enough protein in my diet, especially after reducing my caloric intake. I would never have realized that had I not used the nutrition calculator on SparkPeople.com.
Also, I love the things you can track other than weight here with SparkPeople: body measurements, stress levels, and fitness levels. I even put some other goals on there to track like cleaning house and praying!
Anyway, my doctor was surprised asked me how I did it and I said "SparkPeople.com!" My BMI is now 29, which means I am not "obese" anymore. I told her my goal is to keep going for a BMI under 25, which means I'll have a healthy body weight. She scheduled another follow-up at the end of May to see where I am and do more blood tests to see how I've improved.
I am so psyched to do good for myself, but the accountability at the doctor's is a great motivator as well!!!
