My sessions with the personal trainer began this week. So far, (and keep in mind that this is only week 1) I like my trainer. He pushes me to do more which is something I don't do for myself.
I have two sessions per week with him. My next session is tomorrow but based on the two I have already had with him, I will say that both times I have left the gym feeling muscles that I hadn't worked before and pouring sweat. This coming from a girl that rarely sweats.
So what have we been doing, you ask?
His focus right now is building our core muscles. Most of our workouts have involved the big exercise ball or bosu ball (aka half ball of death).
On the exercise ball we will do planks... such as these -
Right now, our planks are only 30 - 45 minutes at a time which seem to be the LONGEST 30 - 45 minutes of my life!
Last night, he had me standing on a bosu ball like this -
Once I finally got on and maintained my balance without falling off, he thought it would be fun to play catch with a 6lb medicine ball (while standing on the bosu ball). I asked him if he was kidding... but he wasn't.
I did my best and by the third rep, I had that Bosu ball down to a science!
In the short time that I have been working with my trainer, I am surprised to see how he seems to know my limits and he already knows how to push them. While doing a weight training exercise last night, he didn't allow me to stop at 15 like I did the first two reps, he kept asking me for one more (what's that about?). I finally gave him a look and said, "no more". That's when he allowed me to stop.
So the workouts are good so far. Paying for a trainer forces me to make it to the gym for my scheduled appointments. It also holds me accountable.
His goal for me is to lose 40 pounds by July. That will give me a grand total of 70 pounds lost since beginning my journey.
Now I only need to figure out the food part of losing weight. Thank you to everyone who commented on my last post. I will try and put your advice into action!
