My tongue wants sweets

Tuesday, January 03, 2012

Head hunger? NOPE! Tongue hunger? YEP! My stomach isn't making even the slightest bit of noise. Our bodies were designed so that our tummy would woof at us (a/k/a growl) when our body NEEDS food. And stop growling when it is not hungry anymore. Not stuffed. No no no. Just NOT HUNGRY.

That being said. My body doesn't need food. No woofing going on here whatsoever.

Drink more water, eat more protein. Yep, thats the plan for this day. One day at a time.

You all really helped me with your responses on my blog! I thought before sticking junk in my mouth and am feeling better equiped. At work we have an endless supply of hot tea and sugar free hot chocolate and those have been WONDERFUL!!!

I have an emergency "go-tos" when I just cannot cure the crave any other way. I either put a packet of diet hot chocolate (25 calories) in a large cup of decaf coffee with splenda and low fat cream. That usually does the trick. If you are at a point where you can have nuts (my MD is OK after the 6mth point with small amounts well chewed), I also weigh out 1oz of semi-sweet chocolate chips and combine with 1oz of almonds (about 11 nuts). I eat them very slowly, and that takes care of the "crunch" craving. However, with both of these I enter them into my calorie count allowance for the day, both to be accountable for what goes into my body, and to avoid the guilt and negative self talk afterwards.

I know what you mean. For me it is usually the salty, crunchies that I crave.

That's when I make a cup of tea with artifiical sweetener (stevia is my fave) and a bit of skim milk - sweet, creamy, satisfies the cravings without many calories.

You can fight it - have some fruit if you need sweets. That should help. Good luck today!

Hang in there! I know just what you mean, and sometimes I find that the only thing that stops these cravings is a small serving of something sweet. Those snack-size candybars are always good, if you can resist eating more than one. I keep them in the freezer, which makes eating them a lot more work. The big problem is...Girl Scout cookies are coming! Yikes!

Boy do I know those kind of days! But if I give in and I do too often then my stomach does not feel good! Yet I do it over and over even though I crave the sugary and I know the stomach will mount a revolt I can not stop myself!
