New Idea for a New Year

Tuesday, January 03, 2012

Merry xmas and happy new year, its time to go forth and re invent myself!
I have been spending a lot more time in the gym while i'm on holidays. Its great by the time I've walked my dog for an hour done a weights session and then my rehab stuff its lunchtime and I'm shattered. Its good to relax with a good book.

I'm trialling a new way of eating called EAT STOP EAT. I noticed my personal trainer had lost a lot of body fat and asked him what he'd been doing and it was intermittent fasting.

The story so far...........
I'm surprised how easy it is to just not eat for 24hrs, especially when I don't need to restrict my diet for the rest of the week.

It seems i'm eating often because its "mealtimes" and I'm not really hungry.

Not planning, cooking and eating gives you back heaps of time into your day.

I'm not spending all my time thinking about the next meal.

Also it hasn't affected my workouts, I'm surprised how much energy I have .

There is a lot of scientific evidence to support the fasting idea, it goes back through religion for ages.

I'll be blogging to document how this is going and if its having a desired result.

Its kind of ironic that its exactly the opposite to what I was doing 4 yrs ago e.g. 6 small protein meals a day with no more than 3 hrs apart.

Other than that my body fat % is going slowing downwards in general which is also a great xmas present .

All the best for 2012 sparkers

That is interesting... So no eating every other day or just once in a while? Let me know if it seems to slow your metabolism at all.
