A Happier Human Being!
Sunday, January 01, 2012
I'm not making any resolutions this year. I'm just going to try to stay focused on the things that make me a happier human being; such as:
*Making time for family and friends. When I die, no one will remember what I did at work or the things I had. They'll only remember the good times we spent together.
*Letting worries go. So much time and energy wasted on worrying about the what ifs. Let go of the things that you are not in control of anyways.
* Trying to eat healthy. My body feels so much better when I feed it right, but there's still a little wiggle room for a taste or two of an indulgence. When I bite into a treat, if it's not worth the calories, I just spit it out, but if it's worth it I savor every bite.
*Taking Lucy for long walks. My pup is pure joy on a walk, although she's not always perfect. Her ears fly, her tongue lolls out, and her dog smile says it all. Even on cold days, her enthusiasm is catching. :-)
*Being active. I have realized that I am so much more fulfilled when I turn the T.V. off and live my own life. Quit living through the people on T.V. Reality is so much better! Go hiking, ice skating, sledding, do some gardening, have a snowball fight, play some lazer tag, jump on a trampoline, or etc. I've quit caring about how other people view me and it's so liberating! I no longer feel 47! I'm also no longer wasting the gift of time. If you don't use it, you'll lose it...
*Make sure to spend time everyday for a conversation or laugh with the ones you love, but make sure you listen with 100% of your attention. I never realized that really listening takes effort, but it's worth it! It makes people want to talk and stay in touch with you.
I hope everyone has a healthy, happy new year spent on the things that make them a happier human being!
