Help! My scale is stuck and it can't go down!

Saturday, December 10, 2011

Ever have those weeks where the scale won't move? I've had several of these on my journey from 268 lbs to 155..... now 5 lbs away from my original goal, I am STUCK once again ....... Is it physical or mental? Am I somehow sabotaging my progress? Who knows.......
But it can be very frustrating......

One of the things I've learned is not to dwell too much on the scale not moving. As long as I keep doing what I know I should be doing with my food, water, rest, and activities/exercise, the scale will eventually start to move again. So instead I focus on the fact that my clothes continue to get looser and measurements continue to go down. I focus on all the successes I've had so far and how much better I feel. I focus on all the things I can do now with ease that were so painful and difficult before I lost the first 50 lbs and then 100 lbs......

The other thing that helps so much is support. These are the times that support groups and communities like Spark People really can help make the difference between sticking with it and giving up. I start my morning reading the Spark articles and find lots of good ideas, new ways to motivate myself or new things to consider.......

Between my awesome trainer and Spark People, I WILL reach my goals.........

You have done such an amazing job loosing weight and most importantly getting healthier! Don't let some "number" on a scale slow you down - take body measurements, "pay attention" to how your clothes are fitting, etc. we all know muscle weighs more than fat!

Now may be the time to re-evaluate your goals - is weight still the goal, or body composition???

Congratulations on all you have achieved!
