Why failure is NOT an option anymore!

Monday, December 05, 2011

You started this journey for a reason, whether it was to change for you, and your family, to get into some jeans, or just transform your appearance. Point is, you wanted it and decided to try it. So here you are, eating less, making better food choices, taking the stairs more, getting active AND you hit a wall. You’ve made all these changes, and for some reason or another you’re not getting the results you want or should be getting.

“What’s the use?” says your head… the answer?

Above: “Point is, you WANTED it…”

Whatever reason you had for trying this, is still there, you still want it. So after all this effort, all these changes, why stop now?

You know you feel better after the workout; even if you have to make yourself do it, why lose that feeling?

You know the pride you get when you accomplish a goal, why leave it unfinished when you can celebrate it if you keep going?

This is something you want and CAN attain, why not work for it?

Here is the answer I have heard “It’s too hard.”
I feel this is appropriate from one of my favorite movies “A league of their own”:

“It just got to hard!”
“It’s supposed to be hard, if it wasn’t hard everybody would do it. The “hard”, is what makes it great.”

Some of the best things we get aren’t given to us. We have to work for them, earn them. So that in the end we will respect our bodies more, we will do what we can to keep our bodies in the condition we have gotten them to.

The pride, the sense of accomplishment, the confidence, the boost of self-esteem, the compliments, the reflection you see in the mirror, the fact of knowing YOU did it, passing your goals, feeling better physically, knowing you’re more healthy for you and your family… while these things are not everyone’s reasons for starting their journey, they can ALL be yours! The only thing standing between you and the success you long for is your head.

Your heart wants it, your body says to your brain “this is hard” and your brain replies “what’s the use?” DON’T stop there!! Bring your heart back into the conversation with “I want this, that’s why!!!”

Failure SHOULDN’T be an option.

Failure ISN’T an option.

Change your thinking.

Love yourself enough to not only make the change, but to keep going!! Go until you reach your goals… then go some more!

Seeing the light at the end of the tunnel and getting to that light isn’t enough, go run around in it!

And one more thing friends, I hope you all keep in mind that all the advice I give, all the knowledge I have… was GAINED! I didn’t know any of this stuff. I don’t know everything. I didn’t know the tips and tricks; I didn’t even know how to get started. And I’m pretty sure most of us on sparkpeople who have lost weight and reached goals are the same in this area. I didn’t start my journey knowing everything, which may had been overwhelming for me. You learn as you go, the more you want it, the more you will do the research to find out how to get it.
Put into practice the information you find, and if it works for you, make it a part of your lifestyle change.

Failure isn’t an option anymore, do this… for you!!

Rock it out!!

Much love,
Em

I really needed this. I hurt my hip-flexor running and have basically been out of commission for weeks. I trained hard, go up to running 3+ miles but when I thought it was better... I was still in pain and all my conditioning was thrown out the window. I was in a funk, a really bad one. You are absolutely right, you have to change your thinking and I am doing this for me. I've started boot camp and I have jumped back on the horse to a healthier me. Doesn't matter how often we fall off or try as long as we don't give up. Thanks for such an inspiring post. Work it out, girl!

Thank you for sharing your blog. Inspiring. I have turned a corner in my thinking this week too. No more excuses. I have to fight for what I want. The scale budges 1 lb at a time. It's frustrating, it is slow but I want to change my life. I am going to take this 1 lb at a time. I will keep fighting and moving forward. Keep up the good work! emoticon

That's EXACTLY what I want! At first, I used to think "If only I hadn't let myself get this bad in the first place..." But then I realized that if I hadn't had to go through all of this, I wouldn't appreciate it as much as I already do and as much as I will in the future! If I didn't have to work so hard to make myself healthy, I'd take what I had for granted! We're on this journey for a reason!!

Thanks for the fantastic blog. Great pep talk!

Great blog, Emily. I've come so far that, even though the last 10lbs feel like they will take forever, quitting is NOT an option! I've come so far, worked so hard, sweated so much that there's no way I'm going back! Thanks for sharing!
