Bikram Yoga

Wednesday, November 09, 2011

I have decided that I am addicted to Bikram Yoga. It is 26 postures in 90 minutes with temps around 105 and humidity around 40 or 50 percent. Within the first five minutes of class you start sweating...by the 30 minute mark you have sweat dripping off your nose. By 60 minutes you can't wait for class to end. At the 75 minute mark you know you are almost done, just a few more postures and you realize your mat is drenched, your clothes are drenched, your hair is drenched, your makeup is running down your face and you feel exhausted. At the 90 minute mark when you get to lie down in savastana (relaxation or corpse pose) for as long as you need, you know you have completed the class you feel amazing! You walk out of the class soaking wet, carrying your towel and yoga mat which are also soaking wet, your arms and legs are shaking from exhaustion and you feel AMAZING!

After taking my first few Bikram classes, I became addicted to the classes. I crave them. My body begs me to take another class. Some days my mind makes up excuses on why I can't go and many times my mind wins and I don't go to class then the next time make it I feel so amazing after that I kick myself for waiting so long to go again! I have 9 more classes to go to between now and December 8 and I am going to make every possible effort to make it to all 9 classes.

Always wanted to try it, but nothing like that around here. BTW - take the make up off BEFORE you go - your skin will love you for it!!

I've always wanted to try Bikram Yoga but I haven't really liked any of the other yoga classes I've taken. Maybe someday I'll check it out emoticon
