A Month of Thanks
Friday, November 04, 2011
Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays. I'm sure the fact that my birthday sometimes falls on it doesn't have anything to do with it - not this year though. I love the reminder to give thanks, and this month I am trying to remind myself every day about all the things I have to be thankful for, especially when I am starting to feel the self-pity that I sometimes allow myself to wallow in. Right now, I am especially thankful I am not in high school English class and about to get an F for so many prepositions ending sentences. I will try to post thanks throughout the month, but we all see how much that happens, but I will think of something every day to be thankful about whether I post or not. Anyone want to join me?
I am thankful that I have two working legs and that I am healthy enough that I can walk, run and ride a bike. I may be obese, but it could be so much worse and I am working to make it better. I am thankful to have that opportunity.

I never posted about L and the bike race. L and I reached an agreement that I would let him ride in the bike race if he came home with at least 4 stars at least 7 out of 1o school days. The stars are for behavior and there can be a total of 10, so I wasn't trying to make it too difficult for him. He missed one day of school with his bus seat mate vomited all over him on the way to school. (I also only go two miles out of a planned 20 mile bike ride that day.) So I reduced the number of days he needed to six. Unfortunately, he only succeeded in doing five days of acceptable behavior so he did not get to compete. It might be for the best as he still occasionally has some issues stopping.
