Mother Nature - Figure Out Your Issues!!!!!!

Friday, October 28, 2011

Dear Mother Nature – Figure out your issues!

My state, Maryland, gets two or three big snow storms a year. If that. It is usually raining and 50 degrees on Christmas. A few weeks ago, I was walking around in flip flops. I have still been running in shorts. And now they are saying we could see five inches of wet snow tomorrow. Ummmm what?! I have a lot of people to see and places to be this weekend!

First of all – I weighed myself yesterday. No loss, no gain. I suppose that isn’t good or bad. Sigh. I ate awfully last weekend and I didn’t run much this week, so I guess I get what I earned (or didn’t earn?)

This is shaping up to be a long, potentially “bad” for me but good weekend.

Tonight we are going out to dinner with my BF’s group of friends for his birthday. The healthiest thing I can find on this menu is a turkey sandwich. I am going to beg them to substitute some sort of veggie for a side. This is still a much healthier choice than last year’s birthday celebration: a keg and chickfila trays of many nuggets, amongst other things.

Tomorrow… oh… I SO hope they are wrong about this weather! They said it could start snowing overnight. I’m having PTSD flashbacks of the last snowstorm I drove in when I wrecked my car. I’m pretty scared. I have a haircut scheduled for lunchtime and I don’t really have any other time to do it before my friend’s wedding. BF and I have an annual Halloween party tomorrow night that is like THE party of the year. Lots of good drinks, food, fun people. I don’t want to miss it, but I’d also have to take the road I wrecked my car in the snow on last year to get there. Ughhh. The sun is out today and I hope that means the roads have been warm enough to let this stuff melt!!!!

Sunday is my BF’s birthday. He doesn’t know it yet, but I booked him a massage for the afternoon. I think he’ll be super surprised! We are going out to dinner Sunday night. Hopefully I won’t be too bad but I want to enjoy myself as well.

Monday, BF and I are heading “downeeocean hon” (in non-Baltimore speak – down to the ocean). We got a special hotel room and we’re going to play in the arcades and try to relax. I have to go to court on Tuesday down there for the speeding ticket I got in August, so we figured we’d make a little trip out of it. I’m also excited to not have to be at work, even though court kind of scares me. I have never been!

I can’t believe next week is November. My friend’s wedding, Thanksgiving, a lot of parties and activities planned. I only work one full week in November! I also really need to keep making progress through this upcoming season of holidays and celebrations. I feel like the Spark cookbook and the indoor gym are going to be big factors in that! I want to try to eat at home as much as possible as well as work out as much as possible so that I can enjoy the celebrations without too much guilt. ‘Tis the season!

I need to go find some gloves…

Sounds like you have alot of plans...and it sounds like you have A PLAN to handle the plans...do the best you can..you deserve to enjoy - just make a commitment to yourself to do your best, and to get back on track next week with home cooked meals and planned runs and exercise..

I am headed to Savannah on Wednesday. If I weren't picking up my step-granddaughter so she can see her dad, I would have blown town today! Instead, I will run in the snow tomorrow. Something very sublime about running in the snow.

I have been calling all that good weather "Waiting for the other shoe to drop" weather. Shoe is dropping tomorrow.

Wow, makes me tired just to read your weekend plans :P I'm with you on the wishing for no snow!! Mainers are used to snow, but still, not in October!! My first 5K race is Sunday, and will be held rain or shine. Guess they didn't expect snow when they wrote out the event info!! Good luck getting everything done and making great choices!!

WOW!! That is quite a schedule you have there. Sounds like lots of fun!! I hope that the weather holds out for you and even if it isn't warm it will at least be dry. I hate the thought of snow so early into the season already.

    Happy Birthday to your BF!

Have a blast at the Halloween party, too!

Also, when you go out to dinner, the turkey is an excellent choice! I find that most every place is willing to substitute a side salad or a veggie or some kind rather than the unhealthy option of chips or fries. That said, try squeezing a lemon wedge over your side salad. It is a refreshing alternative to salad dressing and considerably fewer calories!

Be safe and good luck in court!!

Have fun & be careful in the weather - if it comes. What I remember most about living in MD is the crazy hail out of nowhere!

You can do it girl - find those healthy options or ask for special treatment... it shouldn't take a chef back to make something a little healthier. Happy Birthday to your boyfriend!

I'm traveling this weekend & next week so I'll have some of the same challenges - we can do it! emoticon emoticon
