Day 3...Tracker Trouble!!!

Friday, October 28, 2011

So I just realized I said Thursday on Weds...that's the way it's been this week..one little goof after another!!!

Yesterday, (the real Thursday) I went over my calorie range. It was not intentional, but yet it was. I'll explain.

I went out to lunch on my own, this was a planned unhealthy meal. I tracked it using other members' information. I had a light but healthy breakfast and dinner, and had tracked those as well. When I looked at my Daily Feedback I saw I was really low on fiber and protein. These are two nutrients I like to keep higher for health reasons. Since I still had calories I had Greek yogurt and fruit to boost my nutrients for the day.

Well, then I got wondering why my nutrients were so low, I mean, I know lunch wasn't healthy, but I figured my protein would be high...so I looked at the meal more carefully, and I found that only calories were tracked for lunch...I usually check more carefully before I import from other members, but I was in a hurry....SO...I went to the restaurant website and downloaded their nutrition information and re-entered everything into my tracker and favorites. The calories were off by about 200 calories for the meal (not in my favor!).

So, if I'd put the information in the Tracker myself, I would have seen I had met my nutrition goals for protein and fiber, and I would have seen I was right in my calorie range...and I wouldn't have eaten yogurt and fruit....and I know I wouldn't have snacked either. I was FULL when I ate that yogurt and fruit, but I didn't want to be so low on my nutrients!!!!

Foiled by the Tracker again...I really need to be more careful about importing items into my Tracker....maybe next time I'll just listen to my belly when it says it's full!!!

I also won't be eating at that restaurant any time soon! I found out there was trans fat in my meal...just not worth it!!!

Sorry I rambled, but I learned something, again! Hopefully, this will stop someone else from making the same mistake!

The fact they you realized something was off with the numbers is a great thing, think positive! Soon it will be second nature for you to estimate the nutrients in your food without the tracker and that is a skill that will keep you moving forward.
