The reason for change

Tuesday, October 11, 2011

Maybe you started this journey off for reasons like: I want to be smaller, more attractive, feel better about my image, etc.

What you didn’t realize is that the true issue is learning to love yourself for who you are.
When losing weight you will gain a huge sense of pride in yourself. You will remember every sweaty workout, the times your muscles were on fire, when your heart was pumping out of your chest, the air quickly entering and leaving your lungs, and you KEPT going!

You will gain a huge sense of accomplishment, making it impossible not to be proud of yourself! This is what is lacking with the latest fad/crash diets.

Along with pride comes responsibility.

Growing up I was taught to work for my money, for the things I wanted, so that I would appreciate it more and take care of it. The same is true with weight loss. The harder you work for it, the more you push yourself to reach a goal… the more excited you are when you get there, it means more and you are more likely to maintain it.

(first 5k race)

(my last race- 10k, placed 2nd in my division)

You can have a successful journey! You can get where you want to be AND stay there.

Will it happen overnight? No. If you want to drop a lot of weight fast, do not be surprised if you don’t maintain it.

Don’t change so that you CAN love yourself.
Love yourself enough to MAKE the change.

So do you?
Do you love yourself enough to get uncomfortable in a good way?
Do you love yourself enough to experience the “negative pains”?
Do you love yourself enough to make a LIFEstyle change?
Not a few weeks, or a couple months, for LIFE?

If that seems too long for you, anything you try is more than likely already a failed attempt.

Love yourself NOW.

Make yourself a PRIORITY.

Earn what you want, it’s NOT going to be given to you AND be a success in the long run.

Want it. Get it. Rock it out!

Much love!

About to kill my run

Loved the message in this blog. Thanks for reiterating that weight loss is more appreciated and long lasting when you work hard to get there. That has definitely been left out or over looked by current fads. Nothing beats eating right and working out. Keep rockin'!

You inspire me & inspired me with this blog. I saw the fire/determination in your face in your last pic. I read your blog last night & went to bed thinking about it....so...

After I put my son on the bus this morning, I grabbed my umbrella because it looked like rain - and went on an almost 3 mi. walk around my neighborhood. I finished in just under 1 hour, but I didn't want to kill myself on day 1. It's hard to make your body move when it's not used to doing that. Going to try & make it out 3x/week and keep adding in running spurts until I can run the whole thing!

I really love reading your blogs. They send a message to me (and maybe to others) just what we need to hear at the right time. It just makes me realize that I need to work harder at what I really want; to feel better about myself.
