Dr.Phil is in my head

Wednesday, September 28, 2011

Yes, it's his famous saying, "Today is the first day of the rest of your life..."

I recently (very recently) lost both of my parents only four hours apart from heart disease and stroke. They were wonderful southern folk that fried everything in grease, survived on soda and smoke like chimneys.

I'm not getting any younger, and I'm not getting any thinner. Given my genetics, it is time for me to take my health seriously. Not only am I going to try and get in shape, I'm also on a mission to get my older brother in shape as well.

I quit smoking several years ago and I've also cut down on my soda intake. Now, it's time to work on the diet and exercise thing I've been avoiding.

Wow you've been through a tough time. I know you want to get healthy and that's great but make sure you take care of your mental and emotional health as well. You need to take the time to grieve and let yourself feel whatever emotions you need to feel. Don't be too hard on yourself at the beginning.

If you want to chat, feel free to email me.

    Good luck on your journey.
