tomorrow... day 1

Last week I watched a documentary on Netflix called "Fat, sick and nearly dead" and wow, did I get inspired!! I have often gotten inspired but not as much as I was that night as I watched that movie. I sat there on the couch and all I wanted to do was watch it again but since it was 12.30am when I was finished AND a school night for the kids I had to get my butt in bed!

Next day I sat on the computer and researched and researched all about the benefits of juicing. I was not only inspired by the fact you can lose weight, which of course is awesome but my main inspiration was the health part of it, the nutrients your body gets from it but is most often lacking. Just seeing how Joe Cross was able to turn his life around, all his medical illnesses went into reemission by doing this 60 day juice fast! He "ate" nothing but juices that he made by himself in his juicer while driving across the USA.

Anyway, I got inspired due to the fact that I have chronic migraines and I would LOVE to get those under control. Last month I had to go to the ER due to a migraine attack that got so sever. Being that I´m alone with the kids while hubby is deployed. I went to Walmart last weekend and bought a juicer, a cheap GE juicer but I could not be happier with it. I wasn´t ready to spend $300 on a juicer if I wasn´t sure if I could stick with this or liked it. I went and bought loads of veggies and fruits that same day too and made my first juice.

I was like a kid with a new toy, I just HAD to try it soon as I got home, lol. I put a handful of kale, handful of spinach, 1 tomato, 3 carrots, 1/2 red pepper, 1/2 cucumber, 1 apple and handful of grapes. I was shocked as to how GREEN the juice was and as I stood there looking at it I told myself I couldn't drink it, that it tastes horrible, that I would throw up etc. I held my nose as I tasted the first sip and was pleasantly surprised as to how tasty it was! I actually LOVED it! All I could taste was the cucumber and the pepper and those are two of my favorite fruits. I was hooked there on and that day I made apple/carrot juice for my 5 year old and she loved it too!

Since that day I have been making one 20oz cup of juice every day but have been wanting to take it further than that. My only problem is, cleaning the juicer, even though it's not that tough, it's a daunting task and after one cup I just don't feel like cleaning it and start the process all over again. So I thought, can I make enough to last me a day so I would only need to do this ones during the day? After looking it up, yes I can. There are some things you need to follow, like keep it in a dark place and cooled so I wrapped my pitcher in aluminum foil and in the fridge it went. Today was kinda my "pre-programming" day. I had a juice for breakfast and lunch plus a protein shake and some tuna, then another glass around miday but ate normal dinner. I don't think I'm going to be doing a LONG juice fast, but I want to make it at least 3-5 days and then just incorporate juices into my daily meals. I am horrible at eating fruits and veggies so this is a GREAT way for me to get those in for the day. I can see myself have a juice for breakfast and as part of my mid morning, and mid day snack and as part of my lunch and dinner. I am just too afraid to cut everything out and how my body would react to adding those items back into my daily meals.

Tomorrow I will be juicing only though, tomorrow, Saturday and Sunday at least and we will see how it goes after that.
