One Year SparkVersary today & DH status

Tuesday, September 13, 2011

One year ago today I found SP quite by accident. I had been overweight for some time & was looking for a height/weight chart on the net. Talk about good luck!!

During the past year I have lost many inches (not sure how many because I regrettably did not measure when I started), 30 pounds, my prediabetes status, my idea that this was just another "diet" and I would try it for a little while etc. I have "found" so much more! Lots of new Spark buddies across the globe, numerous recipes, new information about good health, eating right, exercises, challenges, support & encouragement, etc.

This has become a lifestyle & not another diet for me. I still crave sweets or high calorie foods (and occasionally give in to small amounts of them), but have learned not to quit the program, but just pick up & go on. I religiously use the food tracker, but need to measure & weigh food more than I do as my eyes tend to "lie" to me. I walk on the treadmill & sometimes with Leslie, but do not do enough ST. I need to work on this. I cannot do a lot of the exercises that I really need to because of my arthritis & bursitis pain.

Saturday is the 5K walk for breast cancer with my DD, GS & his fiancé. Hope to make pictures & will post next week.

DH had a restless night & we ended up trying to sleep in our recliners. (I would not stay in bed after he left so I could keep an eye on him....we live in a 2 story house). He says he looks like & feels like a mummy. This is true as they have both legs wrapped in Ace bandages from the top of his thighs to his toes. I will remove the thigh parts tomorrow & we go back to the doctor's office on Friday where they will remove the lower part & put compression hose on him. He will have to wear these several weeks.

Thank all of you for the prayers, concerns & good thoughts sent our way. SP are the best!!

Have a Spark filled day!!!!

Happy Anniversary! I walk with Leslie because I live in Texas and we can't even breathe outside because of the heat. I do chair exercises to Anne Burnell DVDs.
You can see a sample of them on Stronger Seniors Team page. They really give you a good workout while sitting.
Thoughts and prayers coming to you and your DH for fast recovery!

We share the same anniversary - September. I actually joined the previous May, but didn't even log in again till September. Frankly, I've lost NO weight, but I'm still in better health than I was before. Well, I actually lost almost 10 lbs., then gained it back again. My eating habits have been very healthy for a long time, except for desserts.... very fattening desserts. I used to indulge only when I ate out, but eating out was a rarity. Now we eat out too much. More changing of the way I think.... but I will win this battle with myself.
