Which pain will YOU choose?

Tuesday, August 30, 2011

Thinking back to before and during my journey I came up with some of my “Negative Pains” and “Positive Pains”(yes, positive PAIN!).

You make the decision everyday… which pain will you CHOOSE??
The Pain of:

Being too embarrassed to leave your house

Never wanting to go clothes shopping with your girlfriends or sisters

Discovering you’ve outgrown another piece of clothing.

Moving in the wrong direction in your belt notches

Becoming short of breath easily

Feeling every role in your stomach when you sit down

feeling like people are staring and wondering what have you done to yourself

Making excuses avoiding a game of some sport because of your size/being out of shape

Wearing layers to disguise how big you are

Wearing a jacket no matter how hot you are to "hide"

Always aching, having no energy, fear of not seeing your children grow up

VS.

The Pain of:

your first cardio

having some punks mock you while you run to change your life

taking some time from your family to work out

feeling sore from a workout

giving up certain foods/eating habits

getting off the couch and getting active

not being completely supported during your lifestyle change

running on a scorching hot day and sweating so bad all your clothes are drenched

feeling sick after an intense workout

not being able to feel your fingers or toes during a winter run while your lungs burn from the cold air

being 1 mile into your first half marathon and that knee pain you’ve struggled with hits you full force, finishing the remaining 12.1 miles running with the pain that spreads to your hip and ankle.

I would ABSOLUTELY do my “positive pains” all over again.

Which pain will you choose?

Yes, the postive pain is hard... but in reality which is harder? Choose your hard... choose your pain!

Such a good point! Dieting is hard. Working out is super hard. But being fat is the hardest. So since it's all hard, I'm choosing eating well and working out.

    Thanks for your inspiration!!

I love your blogs - you are so inspiring! But I was so surprised to read about people being mean to you while you ran. People are really that cruel? That makes me want to cry. I see people out walking/running/biking who are overweight and I found it so motivating because I think "hey, if they can do it so can I." emoticon

Awesome and TRUE evaluation! We are all going to "pay up" one way or another. Pay the price for a healthy lifestyle( healthy food, gym membership, personal trainer etc) or pay the doc or surgeon or mortician for an unhealthy one.. We decide. Thanks for your blog and the reality check we all need.

I have to giggle because I was thinking about "positive and negative pain" (although not in those terms) this morning at gym - I felt like "going easy" and then I reminded myself that I am waging a war against "the easy way out" - it was a tough session, but I did it!

    Thanks for the inspiring blog!

I love this blog. I definitely choose the positive pain. I have felt the negative pain way too much and am glad to be changing it one step at a time :)

absolutely bud!! Mainly weighing the two, which is worth it? The pain of not having the energy to play with your kids or the pain of being made fun of while you exercise so you CAN have that energy? I do agree though!
