Getting Stronger

Tuesday, July 05, 2011

Well, I can never seem to do anything half-way. I went in for a routine outpatient surgery last Friday, and ended up having two surgeries, a blood transfusion, and two days in the hospital. I'm doing better today, and am on my way to feeling somewhat back to normal. Although I haven't tracked for 4 days, or exercised for 4 days (prohibited by my doctor.....but cleared to start back up tomorrow! Yay!), I have not gone over my calories and haven't given up all the healthy habit strides I've made. And I've actually lost 4 lbs. (Of course they took out two very large fibroids...one the size of a grapefruit, he said.....several polyps and I lost a lot of blood, so that probably accounts for the weight loss!) But usually, when I feel weak, depressed, or sorry for myself, that's when I revert back to my old "food for comfort" bad habits. And I didn't do that this time, so I'm making strides and getting stronger.....both figuratively (mentally) as well as literally (physically!)

Hang in there. It actually DOES get easier, I think!

I'm so proud of you - and you should be as well. All of that stress, and you stuck with your program. Very well done!

Maybe give the credit for the weight loss a 50/50 split - half of it to the surgery/ies and the other half to your inner awesomeness. :)

    Best wishes!
