saying goodbye to processed food?

Friday, April 15, 2011

I have been doing a lot of research lately on healthy eating. More specifically, I have been researching how hypothyroidism can affect your diet and how your diet can affect hypothyroidism. I wasn't really looking for a "diet", but more of just guidelines that might be helpful. For the past year I have really struggled to lose weight with just focusing on heaslthy eating.

After doing some online research and talking to my doctor, I came across the "Eat Clean Diet" which led me to the concept of clean eating. A lot of people with hypothyroid havew found this type of eating to be helpful as far as losing weight. I am still trying to understand fully why. I do know that when I was doing the Atkins diet before my wedding, my weight was easier to lose weight than anything else I tried. My body seems to respond and feel better when I am eating smaller quantities of carbs.

After doing a lot of online research, I decided to buy a book - "The Complete Idiot's Guide to Eating Clean".

I finished reading the book tonight and I think I am going to take the plunge. It isn't extreme. The concept is to eat clean 75-80% of the time, which will still allow for my chai tea lattes emoticon. The hardest thing will be figuring out the meal planning at first and then learning how to cook/bake with different types of flours and sugar substitutes. But, I am looking forward to the challenge.

Well, enough rambling for now! Have a good night!

I've wanted to get off processed foods for awhile but it's just so convenient to buy frozen stuff and pop it in the microwave! I feel like I would need much better time management skills if I wanted to get off the processed foods lol. Let me know how this goes for you! How easy or hard it is.

My cousin had to go off milk. She found she was prone to infections when she had milk. So do what you need to do to be healthy! :) Good luck!
