My Fondest Childhood Memory!!!!!

Wednesday, April 13, 2011

I would have to say my fondest childhood memories are the holiday memories, my mother would start the week of baking her pies, and cakes, and getting everything
ready for the special day. We all got together as a family and decoraate the tree
we made ornaments at school every year as a child and these were her special ornaments we placed them on the tree every year ourselves every body took a part
in the tree this was special family time together. We each got 1 special gift and we really appreciated this, My Mother taught us that even know we may not have as much as others but we had love, and each other and that was worth more than alot of other things and she instilled that in me as I became an adult, and my Husband and I have instilled this in our son. I miss those Holidays my Dear Mother passed
away in 1983 from breast cancer, But I have all those wonderful memories!!!!

Sounds like your Mom played a big part in your memories. I just loved Christmas time and still do. I think it's my favorite holiday. It's not about the presents or gift buying. I just love the whole season!

Thank you so much for sharing your memories with me!

emoticon memories! It is hard when our moms are no longer with us, but I am glad you have these great memories to cherish and remember her by. It is emoticon that you continue those traditions with your own son! Too many parents try to give their kids everything they could possibly ask for and I think that is not good. emoticon

While my mom was alive we still got together for the Holidays! Christmas was the special one for us too. Even though as mom got older my sisters and I took over the baking and cooking. My mom passed in 2008. Now we are doing good to get two or three of us together for Christmas.

I, too, remember some of the same things from my childhood, including the candies that my mom would make for us to take to school as presents for our teachers. That just doesn't happen anymore.

But more than food, the memories of family and holiday and doing things together is really the best thing, I think, about being an adult. We know that who and what we are is truly a result of what we experienced as kids. And we know how great that can be.
