So on Thursday's I meet with my personal trainer. And yesterday I weighed in with him, I worked on some Cardio, in which yesterday, I did some cycling. It was good. I went back over to him, worked on some push ups, standing of course, got on the equipment to work on my upper arms and lower legs, so to speak, it was going well. Then he asks me to lay flat on my stomach because I was going to do some planks....."Planks, what's that"? Then he says, oh, you're going to "lift your body using only your elbows and the tip of your toes for 30 seconds". My reply was "what, you expect me to lift all this (232) pounds with "JUST" my elbows and my toes, and for 30 SECONDS??!?!?" "I CAN'T BENCH PRESS 232 POUNDS, LET ALONE CURL 232 POUNDS WITH JUST MY ARMS, AND YOU EXPECT ME TO LIFT ALL THIS..............AND FOR 30 SECONDS?!?!?!?!?" He simply replied "yes". Ok, I'm a team player so let me do this. I lift up my body, and oh what a body it is, left a little belly on the floor for support, so I thought, He says "uh-uh, go a little bit higher" so I did. Immediately I started sweating profusely , He began to count backwards 29, 28, 27, my elbows began to tremble 26, 25, 24 by legs are shaking uncontrollably 23, 22, 21 I look over at him like, "you have got to be kidding me" 20, 19, 18,.....I intervene 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 and fall flat on my stomach. And then he say's "ok, you get a 5 second break"......5 SECONDS, I JUST ABOUT BROKE MY ELBOWS AND MY TOES AND I CAN'T GET A BREAK ANY LONGER THAN 5 SECONDS.....So up again I go....Elbows began to slip from up under me because of the pressure. Oh my gosh, something has got to give, however I lasted a bit longer this time. At this point, I made up in my mind that each week, I'll be sure to weigh atleast two pounds less, cause lifting up 232 pounds, that's no joke! Thus that's my motivation to ensure that I continue to lose this weight emoticon emoticon emoticon

    Looks like you found a great motivator. LOL! Think I'll have to try a plank (but not until I've lost some more lbs. I'm a big chicken.)

    I agree. Find something directly in front of you and focus. Don't speak, don't think, just bore your eyes into that object and it will definitely get easier.

    It gets easier the more you do it. I found the key was focusing on something around me and not think about it as much as I could. I haven't done them in a while, but this blog reminds me to get back to it. Great job!!!

    I hear ya about the planks...my trainer makes me do them too...they burn but I am ASSUMING that is the fat melting away from my core..lol...
