It's time:::to blog about all the medical/stress issues I have been dealing with.

I need to take all the issues one at a time.

Sherre: I have had hip pain for 2 and 1/2 year. I have seen ortho/3 chiro/3 physical therapy/pain management/had MRI-twice/xray all to no avail. the pain is still there with every step!!! the latest thinking is my hamstring muscle has a avolsion or tear. The likely hood is it's not fixable. HOW AT 40 DO I EXCEPT PAIN FOR THE REST OF MY LIFE. It effects every thing I do???

Alys: 16 dx with ehlers danlos hyper mobility. she has joint pain and swelling and will for the rest of her life. It comes with fatigue and migraines. she is dropping her special culinary program she is in at high school. Its ok she is not upset by it! But she dose much better in an air condition school setting. the two school that she could go to are not completely air conditioned. but there is one school and she has asked to be sent there and I finally got a letter from the genetic doc this week. I have been trying to get them on the phone for 3 weeks.

Emily: 12 has an auditory processing disorder diagnosed at 8. she has been special classes for math and reading for years but in nov she had an illness and missed 2.5 weeks of school. at this point she can't go to school because it causes way to much stress. I am in the process of having her evaluated and Diagnosed as to why. But so far the psychiatrist thinks depression/anxiety and aspbergers (I don't agree with the third dx) she also wants me to medicate her! OMG lets fix her not drug her.
today I took her to a place that helps kids with auditory processing disorders. I think it will help her but insurance will not cover it and it's 4200. WHAT TO DO!!!!!

Cati: 10 also has IEP same disorder but she is holding her own. thank God!

Paul: Tax season!!! he is a CPA! I have not seem much of him at all!

my work or lack of it: about 2 years ago I was regularing working about 4 days a week 24 hours a week and now I am cut down to 1 day and 4.5 hours a week. OMG

Ok I got all that out!!

Have the rest of the kids been checked for EDS?

Hearing, anxiety and depressive issues are more common in kids with EDS (hypermoibility of the bone in the inner ear can cause discomfort, general irritability and comes through behaviorally). It can sometimes look like aspergers, but usually it's the way the individual child processes the enormous amount of input coming into a brain with affected tissues. One of my brothers, like my mom, just learned to sumblimate it in a way the rest of us just can't and my sister still struggles with the idea it's forever and genetic. I simply learned everything I could and keep track of familial symptoms, medical advances, counsel family members, etc to deal.

My youngest brother simply grew out of it. He had to learn to deal with stress, take martial arts to calm him down and center him, and we had to wait out what seemed like his "checking out" or inability to remember things, but try to understand that you're talking about something that can emotionally cripple an adult and make little sense even to doctors and imagine processing it when you can't even fully communicate what "it" might be.

It would be worth your while to have

I really, really wish you would take your family to a naturopathic Dr. I cannot stress enough how much I think it would benefit your family. It seems pretty crazy that you all suffer with such debilitations. Please at least do some research on the internet. Even if it doesn't help it won't hurt and then at least you tried.

That's a lot to go through. I hope it can get sorted out. That's sad the Ins. Co. won't chip in on the costs. It's heart breaking to watch children go through something like that. I'll be thinking of you!

That is a lot of stuff to deal with! Breath in, breath out. That is all I focus on when I get overwhelmed with stuff I can't control. Breath in, breath out. Then I take one thing at a time and focus on what I can do. All I can say from my own medical experiences is that there are no easy answers, (unlike tv shows!) and don't let anyone put yourself or kids on meds unless they can FOR SURE tell you what they are for. Both my hubby and son have dealt with medical issues that have taken years to unravel. Probably not what you want to hear, but it is the truth!

    Hang in there. emoticon

I'm sorry to hear you've got so many issues to deal with. But it's great that you're moving in the direction of living a healthier life. While that journey has its own challenges, as you progress you'll get energy from the physical improvements and the emotional satisfaction of your accomplishments. And you are already on your way. Good luck.
