I NEED YOUR HELP!!! (and 8 days till GO TIME!)

Saturday, January 29, 2011

I will be running the SURF CITY MARATHON!!!!! I cant believe it is here. I've been talking about it FOREVER and its finally down to the wire.

The knee is a little sore today (expected that since it was worked on yesterday) so I skipped tennis :( bummer to do that but when I woke up I knew it wouldnt have been a good idea. I took my arnica and set out to buy the joint juice.

Got in my car and got a phone call from my cousin. He wanted me to meet him and his roommate for lunch, so i did! It was awesome. I absolutely love both of my cousins, we are all very close, and it was so nice to sit outside and chat forever with these guys. We went to this place called "Champagne Bakery and Cafe" and I had their parisian salad. It was a huge salad with vinagerette dressing, cranberries, walnuts, apple slivers and onion. YUUUUM! I couldnt even finish it all. After that, I went to wal mart and stocked up on my joint juice.

Then, so exciting, I went to my favorite place - Road Runner and got myself arm sleeves. (arm warmers?) anyway, I decided on these because they are thin ( i didnt want bulky thick ones that would make me SWEAT) and they have UV protection (yay!) AND they are TIE DYE!!!!! Yes, I made sure they will match my outfit for next weekend. I'm no dummy! There may be a potential single guy there! HELLO! I also bought myself a pair of running socks. I know, I know, I've been wearing forbidden cotten socks forever, but finally splurged a bit. I also got an energy/hunger control bar that I had on my 20 miler and helped when the stomach started to growl. I have my SHARKIES energy chews (my favorite) and I think I'm all set. I think. They are having the expo starting on FRIDAY and going until sunday, so when I pick up my race day stuff ill puruse and see if there could possibly be anything else I might want. A hat or visor perhaps?? Still not sure about that one.

The last thing I will need is MUSIC for my ipod. Now, this is where I NEED YOUR HELP. Last may when I ran my half marathons, I asked for my sparkfriends to think of songs for me, and during that time that I have "YOUR SONG" on, is where I will dedicate part of my run TO YOU. Yes, YOU WILL BE A PART OF MY MARATHON! Only if you give me songs though!!! So help me. Get me through those 26.2 miles. What fast, upbeat songs do you want me to be listening to when I think of you?????? DEADLINE is FRIDAY! So get your thinkin caps ON!

Eating has been so far so good today. Yesterday was great until the evening, but still not as bad as the past week. I'm a bit hungry now so I'm going to have my new favorite - dannon light and fit yogurt with fresh BLACKBERRIES!!!! Hope you all are having a great weekend.

Hey girly, Spring4fal and I are running on Sunday too! We are doing the half:)

Is the Champagne bakery you went to today in Carmel Mountain Ranch? If it is, that is right by my house! I didn't realize you lived so close:)

Ok, now on to what you actually asked for;-)

My favorite songs right now (I warn you I love Christian and Hip Hop:):

    TobyMac - Captured
Black-eyed Peas - Imma Be, Boom Boom Pow
Katy Perry (I think) - Firework
    116 Clique - Breathe In
    LeCrae - Get Crunk
    Glee Cast - Forget You
    Nicole Scherzinger - Puakenikeni
    LeCrae - Run

I will have to come back and check your blog later to see what others have posted;-)

    Have a great race!!!

I feel a must on any runners playlist should be The Distance by Cake... it always seems to come on right when I feel like stopping to walk or slowing down and then I can't help but push through.

Oh and if you already got that suggestion - I've recently added California Girls by Katy Perry and whenever that comes on and can't help but have fun with myself.

Sounds like you made some nice purchases. RRS doesn't even have the tie dye ones online. I was looking at getting the new pink or turquiose ones though. I really need to try and get down to Costa Mesa or one of their other stores soon.

Thought of another one: There's No Stopping Us from the movie Breakin. Cool movie about underdogs, overcoming obstacles, being true to yourself despite what others think you should do, yadda yadda yadda.

Lose Yourself or Til I Collapse by Eminem I love both of them when I run!!!!

Oh, I love the song "Walkin on Sunshine1" that would be a great song to run to - it will keep a spring in your step.

I used to love to run to the song "Windy" by The Association. Ok, now, this is a song from the 60's! But it's been "my" song all my life. When I was a little girl my brother substituted my name, Cindy, for Windy and that was it for me. google it and you'll get a YouTube of it.

Next year I'm signing up for the Surf City half. I so wanted to be there this year!

    Fantastic that you are asking sparkers for music ideas. (I'll remember that for my marathon in May)I like the upbeat stuff to keep me moving during my races too! Putting down some selections from my marathon play list, there just might be something here you like: Don't Stop Me Now, Queen; Man Eater, Nely Furtado; Beat It, Michael Jackson; Would I lie To You? Eurythmics; Rhythm Is A Dancer; Snap; Bitch, Rolling Stones; Tusk, Fleetwood Mac; Tell It To My Heart; Taylor Dayne; Edge Of Seventeen, Stevie Nicks; Rough Justice, Rolling Stones; Right on time Mix 99, Black Box;

Have a fantastic race! Enjoy andSavour the memories! Wear that finisher medal with pride!!

Ok, Ricky and I worked on a whole list of songs and then ... lost the response somehow before it posted. So, we're starting over ... Ram Jam - Black Betty, AC/DC - Thunderstruck, Green Day - American Idiot, Ramones - I Wanna Be Sedated (which should be perfect about mile 21!), The Kinks - You Really Got Me, KISS - Rock and Roll All Night, and you already know I love 3 Doors Down - Superman; which I suggested for your HM.

Very cool about the sleeves ... Perfect because Tie Dye goes with everything. As for the Sharkies ... you mean the gummie sharks? We still don't believe they exist. :-)

I don't have any music to offer (I'm 63 years old so I don't think you'd like it if I DID offer it LOL) but I just want to wish you the BEST of luck on your marathon!! And to throw in that I ALWAYS wore a visor when running races (for that matter I always wear one when I'm walking). Not just for sun, but just in case it rains a bit it keeps the rain off your face. Just a thought.... Marilyn in GA

Ooh fresh blackberries are amazing, I don't think I've had any since the summer! I am having a super yummy granny smith apple to help with my sweet tooth craving right now though and it's excellent.

I love shopping at Road Runner - they always have such a great variety of stuff and there's no better place to buy sneakers.

Let me look at my workout mix and I'll definitely send you some music for the marathon! I can't believe it's here :)
