Meditation... A start of a journey within.

Wednesday, January 26, 2011

I have always ALWAYS wanted to be able to meditate. Meditate to relax... Meditate to heal... Meditate to find the answers to what's bugging you. It seems to be an all around good thing. I also believe in the power of visualization... that what ever you can see in your mind comes into being. I am horrible at both. I have always thought that if I could figure out mediation that visualization would naturally flow with more easy. Today I took the first steps towards making that happen.

After doing a little bit of research on exactly how to begin this practice I made a plan. I always have a bit of time in the morning after I exercise to myself. Usually I use it to have a coffee and check up on all my friends in FB land. Today I took 10 minutes to just sit and really see how if feels to breath. I really want this to work! I did end up thinking a little too much about how I felt I am going to have to play around a little bit and find out what works best for me... but it's a step. Tomorrow I will try again. I will learn to just be!

Congrats on making this a part of your life! My anatomy professor taught me how to meditate. He used it at the beginning of each class to help all his students focus on the here and now and leave everything else outside the door. For those who hard a hard time just concentrating on their breath he had them concentrate of placing the left hand down on the thigh with inhale and the left hand up, right hand touching the right thigh on exhale. Over time, they were able to lose the rhythmic hand motions and concentrate solely on their breathing.

You are so right about the visualization, I honestly believe that too. Have you thought about purchasing a guided meditation/visualization CD? I would think that would help too.

Best of luck to you and your new venture!
