Starting over

Friday, December 31, 2010

I probably won't blog here much, but maybe I can find a way to link this to my regular blog, or post a link on here. for now, charlatanpsychic.blogspo

.

It's now December 31, 2010. I'm completely starting over on the spark diet. In 2010, I went back up to 180 pounds. Towards the end of the year I did manage to drop about 7 or 8 pounds.

I've been reading The Four-Day Win by Martha Beck. It's been a long read, but I'm getting somewhere. The book wanted me to pick a diet plan, and I thought I could do it on my own, but alas, not so much. So I'm coming back here. I lost 20 pounds the first time. I hope to lose more this time. More than that, I want to get in shape, I want to keep an active lifestyle.

I've become a runner, to some extent. I have a bike now and can go for bike rides. I live a block from the pool and can swim (once my new tat is healed). The husband and I want to start doing some sprint triathlons.

So this is how I'm making sure I keep on top of things. I will make it a 4-day win, to track my food every day. And work that in with my first fitness 4-day win.

Here's to the new year!

Like minds! Congrats on your plans to start over ... I'm doing exactly the same thing! I joined Spark in August, but never really had/took the time to investigate the site and learn all about what it actually offers until today. While I'll use the site tools to some degree, its the connection to others also working to lose weight and get healthy that draws me most.

A friend at work lost about 40 lbs on a protein diet (perfect amount for her) and has shared info on the diet with me. It is actually very healthy, omits white rice, bread, etc., and encourages whole wheats, veggies, fruits, and healthy proteins. I'd lost 15 lbs, but gave into the temptations of the holidays (candy, cake, pie) over the holidays and have gained back 5 lbs. So, beginning Sunday it's back to eating healthy. While I've enjoyed the sweets, I miss how absolutely wonderful I felt without them.

Anyway, here's to both of us ... I'm excited to see where we are as 2011 rolls along!
