What does an MS patient look like?

Monday, December 20, 2010

ERRR Those who have Multiple Sclerosis, myself included, all know the worst think to say to someone with MS when you first meet them is "But you look so good" Okay, we may not look sick. But we have MS.
I may look great. But I am sick.
I have extreme fatigue, I am tired after my morning shower.
I wear a poise pad because I leak.
I am depressed. No, not because I have MS but because of MS.
I have balance problems.
I have double vision.
I have memory problems.
I have brain damage. Get it?

People with MS all have different problems at different times.
We never know what we will feel like from minute to minute.

Well, this afternoon a urologist said to me. "You don't look ANYTHING like my other MS patients. You look so good."
This was from a doctor. I was floored.
I should have asked him what he thinks MS patients looks like.
But I didn't think quick enough, remember.... I have brain damage.

I like this blog because I have same problems. People think if you are diabled you you should be in a wheelchair or walker. If not why don't you work? My doctor told me i looked good last week but to stay on copaxone. (I plan to.) I never collected disability before but I am ashamed to. I have to get over Stigma. I feel for you Hope you can have a nice Christmas and forget about ms for a little bit!!! emoticon
