Tis the Season

Yep, the holidays are here in full force. I went out today, sorta by accident, and found myself in the midst of all the hustle and bustle of the holidays. I remember reading or hearing something about paying attention to how people act during this stressful time of year so I thought an experiment appropriate. Being the shy person I am and all (yea right!) I decided to be the jolliest of them all today.
So, as I went about my business I smiled at everyone I came across and noted that it IS in fact contagious and they'd smile back. Some I never thought would did and some didn't but no bother, I felt good about sharing a smile nonetheless. The other thing I did, which I don't think I've ever done, is wished everyone I spoke to a Merry Christmas. I talked to people while waiting in lines at the checkout or looking at things and just was myself. It was loads of fun and just the reaction I got from some to hear this weird lady saying Merry Christmas was such fun and most often felt inclined to do the same. I know it made them feel better too and probably not something they did very often either.
So my friends, I'd like to wish all of you and yours a very Merry Christmas and I ask that you take a minute to do the same to others this upcoming week and see how it makes you feel and how they react.
